absolutely and especially for his elevation. Seriously what happened to the days of tons of cold onshore flow in the winter? Just like his place I can do well here with that pattern. 2007 comes to mind. He has been really missing out.

I miss those days too, back then we could get 1 to 4 inches of snow at the onset of almost every system here during the winter.

I know. 2007 2008 was awesome here. Many many 4-6 inch storms. My total for that winter was 48 inches followed by 54 in 08 09.

07/08 was terrible for the puget sound area. Lots of 800-1000’ snow levels.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Can I not point out one little thing I find interesting? Two locations less than 20 miles apart at roughly the same elevation with the same climate are very different in temperature right now.

It’s very interesting. I never said you couldn’t.

Mostly giving you crap for totally jinxing PDX on 1/15.

I'd have to say that the 1/15 jinx might be one of the most tragic jinxes in forum history. Or, rather, world history as a whole.

Tim saw my post and then used his weather control device to manipulate a little warm front into our region getting the temp above 40.

That winter was frustrating. In the 1800s that would have delivered.

Extremely. It was sooo close yet so far away. I remember getting downright pissed off around Christmas that year, at one point the SL was supposed to drop down to 500’ (was at 450’ where I lived then, at the family lake house) and I think it got as low as 600’. I did see chunks at one point.

Maybe.

On that note. I have spent some winters in Portland where strong fronts were supposed to turn things isothermal. But instead of that happening, there ended up being 2 inches of 33 degree rain with random wet snowflakes mixed in. 6-12" of snow was forecast. Sucks to live near sea level.....

A couple of reasons I think we will get hit again...

1. We have had various incarnation of 150 blocking at least 5 times already this season.

2. Reluctance for troughing to develop in the Eastern US progged to continue.

3. Various models developing the classic pre blast signature at months end.

4. Very deep solar minimum highly favors somewhere in the US to get hit again this winter.

5. MJO progged to enter region 5 again by months end or VERY early Feb.

I thought phase 5 is not good for you guys in February?

We had about 1/2" of snow on Christmas that morning in Silverton. Was back from college for Christmas Break. Was a fairly boring winter out in Oklahoma that year.

Fact is that if you like winter snowy weather you shouldn't live west of the cascades. It can be tormenting. Smashed a few weather radios in my youth over busted forecasts.

I still enjoy the fact that when getting snow here it feels like a miracle and satisfying, like it did when I was a kid. Weather models have dampened the allure to an extent though. All about acceptance of the situation and your locale.

Ah that's right. LaPine, OR is a well known military hub.

Jesus, you really are digging for something. Who said I was still in the same line of work? I may or may not be.

And this is just a vacation home that I normally Airbnb. Thought it would be fun to come out and do some winter sports.

I did some reading up on that guy and I assure you that isn't me. I have also read some pretty nasty things from many other members on here as well, so I'm not sure why you singled this individual out at all.

I won't name names but I think everyone should calm down and quit trying to start some dumb internet flame-war.

I'm here to talk weather. Aren't you?

Not sure why being banned multiple times then signing up for a ridiculous sock account isn't grounds for getting the boot again.

Banned for suspicion? Maybe you are him? This is ridiculous.

Sure, Josh.

Fyi. I sent a message to the mods to stop this nonsense. This person is not me.

I think I am going to stick around to see how clique-y this forum is. So far not impressed. Just constant harassment.

Btw, snowed all morning and I have at least 16" on the ground with lots of melt today.
