There is an Arctic blast going into Montana and we are going to have some really cold mins here the next few days. Some decades our climate gets more of a continental influence and that's when we get some fun stuff. You are so hung up on clouds, rain, and gloom. snow_wizard
Things are off to a great start as far as cold mins, at least IMBY. Here is a list of impressive low temperture benchmarks I have a shot at for my personal records with today's low of 30 factored in. To begin with only three other years have dropped to 30 or lower this late in the season. Consecutive lows of 30 or below = Never been more than one at a time. Very likely to end up with 2 and maybe 3. Consecutive lows of 32 or below after April 10 = record is 2. Very likely to end up with 3 or 4. All time record low after April 10 = record is 29 from 1985. Very likely to tie and maybe beat tonight. Looking further back in history impressive late season cold mins normally continue to happen very deep into spring. In extreme cases like 1949, 1951, and 1954 some really crazy stuff happens such as frost (lows mid 30s) on July 4, or widespread lows in the mid to upper 20s on May 1, 1954, or lows in the low to mid 20s on April 20, 1951. Nice to see this streak is going to beat anything recently recorded at least for a number of stations. Quote Death To Warm Anomalies!
