This upcoming period of rain and storms is similar to 2019 but as a whole this warm season has been a lot different. July and august 2019 were cooler and wetter than this year.

D**n I’m an an outcast here, I love Mar/Apr.

Always dynamic even in the most tame years. Severe thunderstorms, snowstorms, and high winds. Sometimes all in the same day.

September is 💤 💤 💤 💤 💤 💤 💤 💤 by comparison.

Different climates.

Spring is also much more interesting here than late summer/early fall. 2013 not withstanding.

Considered extending our stay on Saint Simons to experience hurricane Idalia, but decided against it.

Hurricane Matthew in 2016 missed offshore as a Cat2 and still managed to cut the island off from the mainland due to storm surge flooding.

This one is coming from a different direction, but still, if surge becomes an issue you’re on your own.

New Orleans just broke its all time record high, after tying it multiple times through the summer.

Just an obscene summer in the gulf region.

Lake Sammamish is packed.   Got one of last trailer parking spots at launch.   Nice day... 83 with just a light haze.   Sun feels like it's at full strength.

Nice quiet day for a picnic at Hellsgate State Park in Idaho. Last day of summer vacation for my son. Wife is enjoying a nice day at home. Mid to high 90's but not bad at all in the shade. Watching my seven year old play by the water.

Did you say windstorm? I love windstorms my top favorite weather event, Thunderstorms second and snow third.

You'd like them a lot less if you worked from home.

The past week was the first taste and even in my warm location it felt like the fall. Starting Tuesday it certainly looks so for the next several days. I may want to help my wife move her wall AC to let natural air into her room starting around next weekend.

Loving the rain chances.

A few questions for everyone:

1. Would you rather have a wet late spring (with no rain until late Sept or Oct and normal or slightly above normal temps) or an early start to the fall with rain in middle/Late August or start of Sept? With normal or slightly above normal temps and fires earlier if you could only choose one.

2. When do you give up on snow for your location and root for rain? Vice versa for being bummed with just rain in the fall? What I mean is that we are disappointed when it rains in February but happy if it rains in June or September. When does this change for you?

For me it's about the start of April and the beginning of November (if we've had rain already in the fall). It can snow here after or before those dates respectively.

1. I'd rather have an early start to fall. No matter how bad the winter was, I'm always ready for some warmer/sunnier weather to start by May as the days get long. And on the flip side, no matter what the summer was like, I'm always ready for the rains and fall storms to start to return by late August as the sun angles wane. But the lack of balance has always been an issue for me with our climate, especially now that the summers have gone off the rails and gone full Bakersfield on us.

2. Little different here on this side of the Cascades. Rain is just the reality for us and the default precip mode 99% of the time in the winter, so there's not much reason to need to root for it. Snow is the underdog, so I'm always happy to see that flakey white goodness falling from the sky here because it really is a novelty anytime of the year.
