Should bleed in here for us from the north before the gorge stuff arrives. Looks like the northern line is down through Kalama with the easterly push now through Wyeth/Carson.

I don’t envy the life of a meteorologist today. Mark told everyone to cancel school and stay home from work. But I don’t think there will be any precip today.

I have gotten a taste of that pressure too, people in my circles have been asking me and I have been hesistant on the timing of it all and I am going to be wrong a lot. Thankfully people seem to forget everything when it starts snowing.

What did everyone in the Seattle area end up with last night? I was looking at the radar and it looked like yall were getting more snow than forecast.

Just dustings from the reports I remember reading. There was a lot of virga on the radar.

Boom here we go! The 12z RGEM big improvements in moisture for PDX. I remember in January 2017 it showed way more moisture/snow for PDX than most of the other models. I think it even showed like close to a foot like a day before. It might be on to something here.

My daughters school closed, sons preschool didn’t.  Most schools are going with 3 hour early release. Not sure there will be anything impactful even if things freeze up, I don’t know that roads will get bad in the middle of the day

Pretty rock solid agreement on a general 4-6" now across all models. Some heavier totals in favored places west of I-5. Looking like a good event.

This is a we find out in real time type of deal. Whatever happens this is not going to be a wintry mix it’s going to be a wintry mess!

Waiting for arctic air is the worst feeling ever… Everything still on schedule, but the panic rises with each passing minute. Stinks PDX was 40 at midnight. Hopefully we can get them below 20 by midnight tonight. Those are the goals for today. PDX below 20 at midnight, SLE below 30. Worry about snow tomorrow.

Most of the models show us about 30-50 miles too far north here. Will still be watching the radar all day hoping for a miracle 😂

So many times over the years when the models would show the very northern edge of the precip with these types of systems would kiss Seattle or even Tacoma I knew we had a shot, we usually always got something up here as well as the northern shield went way further than forecasted. I believe the biggest example would have been February 2010 (or 11 can’t remember now) the northern shield was supposed to only touch Seattle barely…We ended up with about 6” at least up here lol.
You just never know, but I have a feeling you might see something.

I see a little 9-10" bullseye on Columbia County, snowier than the 6z. And the snowiest GFS run yet for Clark County. Don't have a Weatherbell subscription but hoping someone can post.

Hope is down to -1F so it is possible as that is the source for the air the eventually gets to Bellingham.  I think Hope is likely to be near the bottom now so I’d bet Bellingham doesn’t go sub zero.

6 degrees in Bellingham with N23G46 is North Dakota weather!   23 here and cloudy but skies should be clearing this morning.

Hopefully this kills off some of the bugs.    A nice reset by nature.

Cold temps might kill some plants also.  Interesting that the new USDA hardiness zones map just came out which shifted zones either 1/4 or 1/2 a zone to the north, and now we get hit with a very cold air mass!

Most districts went with a half day down here, seems prudent but may end up being overly cautious. Rather they err on that side of things though. And yes after tomorrow all will be forgotten 🥶

Can also tell the GFS is going to cave and show the snowstorm on Wednesday.   The entire thing hinges on that little trough in SE Alaska not getting absorbed into the trough to the west.   This run is going to have it crash right down on us.

At this point I refuse to believe all of the freezing rain being shown in salem. I'm guessing it'll be 3 inches of snow, 1 inch of sleet.

Albany and Eugene though, they could get an inch of zr... hoping everyone there stays warm, because that would cause a massive power outage.

Coldest temp this winter: -7 Jan 13th

Snow depth at Mount Bachelor (last updated April 29th) 88"

Snow depth at my home (updated April 29th) late season 1"!

23-24 seasonal snowfall at home (updated April 29th) 92"!!
