Looking at the amount of snow over the ocean the high total at Forks is not surprising.  Just an epic run for this time of year and we are locked into a cold pattern at the end of the run.

EPS is east as well.  The plot thickens!

Very big deal on this run.  The warm strip over the GOA is not only due to the block being further east.  It's also indicative of the block being stronger.  Also looks like -NAO kicking in.  Maybe the final strat warming coming home to roost?

This EPS run is about as good as I've seen this late in the season.  Lots of lowland snow and well below normal temps.  Looks like some continental cold may come into the picture.

I think that’s part of it but also people are probably in wait and see mode given how poor the snow maps have performed in recent events.

I was just thinking that. On this day last year it was 30/24 here. Tomorrow was 33/16 on the date last year. And we ended last February with over a foot of snow on the ground.

Yeah we had over 20” on the ground on March 1st last year and a 28/12 day on the 24th.

Yea. Record low for this date at Shawnigan Lake is 20F from 2022.

It was a different world up here last March vs OR.  I still can't figure out how it was that cold down there.

The EPS control picks up where the OP left off.  Just plain cold for early March.

^^ Definitely agree with this sentiment. Been burned too many times in the past three years to get too excited.

Coldest anomalies were in CA. I think some places in the Sierra were over 10°F below average for the month.

It is bizarre.  Let's hope the same atmospheric "memory" that has been shown with this can happen in January next winter.  That was the most severe Jan cold wave in over 50 years for many locations.

It was barely below normal here while Western OR was like 4th or 5th coldest since 1895.  Really hard to pull that off without cold coming from the north which would have to go through WA.  It did not last March.

Surprising how much snow is shown with those type of temps. Almost makes you wonder if most of us on the I-5 corridor aren’t going to see very much or anything unfortunately. Hopefully with the amount of chances we have coming up something will line up in the overnight hours perfectly.
