Of course. Always finds a way to screw us. The conversational snow today is nice at least.

I'm not sure if it's right about tomorrow night or not.  There is a good moisture plume in play it just gets pointed the wrong way for us.

Looks like the possible action this evening is down on the south coast now.

One thing is for sure, this is a colder airmass coming in than the last couple days. Every shower today has been frozen and I had some rain showers last night between snow showers. Only 35 here.

March cold snaps are certainly a different animal than winter ones.  Quite mild east of the Cascades for the most part today.

I was going to go to cabin but just felt to tired for the drive. Currently 29 there with about 12 inches on ground still. Been a terrible winter for snow, next year should be wicked there

Today hasn't been a mild day here. Maybe it has been in Washington?

I think his point is that despite the chilly weather it’s relatively warm east of the Cascades.

Strong onshore flow, going to flood lower elevation spots east side with marine air. Looks like a lot of mid-40s right now in the Columbia Basin. Sunriver is much higher up, places like Meacham, and Joseph in NE Oregon are relatively chilly too, as the cool airmass is enough to overcome the onshore flow at those elevations. All that to say, yeah, it's not a pattern that favors places east of the Cascades.

Yet there was still snow in a lot of places last evening and overnight.  Many places had a winter weather advisory.  Big snow squalls in the far east part of the state.

My family and I just made it to Lincoln city for the evening. The drive over was fine but it’s been pounding wet huge sloppy flakes the whole time. This weather is so raw. You get soaked so fast and without proper gear or shelter you’re in trouble real fast. The snow accumulation just up in the hills is amazing. Too bad we couldn’t have this set up back in December Or January.

March 2019 says hi. That was crazy cold east of the mountains. But yeah obviously raging onshore flow isn’t going to be their best pattern, even with a maritime polar airmass overhead. It should get relatively colder over there early next week as the cold takes on a more continental profile.

Snow at the lowest elevations in a pattern like this is about timing and luck. Hoping the right shower comes along at the right time, with the right intensity and duration.

But it's not that warm. We are below normal here and many places had snow.  It's melted of course, so it's not extremely cold. Spokane had heavy snow squalls yesterday evening.  Overall temps 6-9 degrees below normal.  And more chances for snow next week

Soon we will get to the point where our average temps will end up being similar to Western Washington and then later in Spring they'll average higher until Autumn.

High of only 32 so far today, currently 31... I'm actually not sure if I've ever had a sub-freezing high in March... I know the park did in 2012, but I think our high was 35 that day. Looks like we were 36/30 on this date last year.

We can’t feel bad for people above 1500 feet. They have elevation privilege.

In Western WA sure. In Oregon, I'd  say 2k ft. East of the Cascades in both states I'd say 2500 ft is where you can no longer complain. Maybe 2k. Anything over 3k anywhere in the west. At 3k, you can expect snow once a year even in CA. I'm at 1850ft (probably more like 1870ish) but still in a shadowed place.

Only had a high of 42 here with a brief sunbreak around 11:30 am. Most of the day was spent under 40 degrees which is impressive for March. 39 degrees right now and hoping those showers make it far enough east for me to see some more snow.
