One thing I will say is some details of the evolution were different than any cold snap I can remember actually happening. That probably should have been an alarm bell on this. The 6z EPS was still ok, but not as good as earlier runs. It looks possible this will be an epic cold October in the eastern half of the country and quite warm in the West. Not exactly what one would expect with a raging Nina. I guess we're just going to have to wait until the wavelength change comes later in the year.
