Well had to do some more digging since the drippage was in fact not slowing down, had to pop out a section of drywall up in the garage storage space to gain access to that back portion of the house roof. Found two things, first was the bathroom fan duct work that goes to the MIL bathroom fan had popped off which was pumping warm air into that section of attic space, that is why there was so much ice damming going on there. I also found the area that is leaking. Did a MossMan rigging job with plastic and a plastic tote to catch the water until we can get a roofer out. Ceiling and wall drywall will most likely need to be replaced in that area of the hallway/closet area. Fun!!

Just a bit above freezing, but the dry nature of the air is preventing any melting.

It's funny to me that cold causes so much extra work and problems and yet we still love it.

There seems to be a lack of excitement for this upcoming period with the warmer air. NWS is certainly not on board but, do we really want to doubt the EPS? image.thumb.png.70ef7eb0b40a26bb2ea64b5d38cf99f6.pngimage.thumb.png.00421021b03f3a306192b4436c098241.pngimage.thumb.png.6da9a873c6a8b454489320419202b00a.pngimage.thumb.png.aeb24c83ad92f9417eeeeb43d9800b38.png

There is certainly potential for the coming week.  I think people are just taking a breather.  As I pointed out earlier the ECMWF op has a 36/27 day for SEA on Wednesday so snow is certainly possible again.

Yeah it’s going to be a bit costly and I am tired and sore between ice breaking and crawling around an attic space. I now have to take down my carport as it was damaged and will not withstand any rain. Then I need to get the big time black garbage bags out and double bag all of the garbage stacking up in the garage since its starting to smell, Waste Management didn’t make it last week for garbage pick up.
I wouldn’t trade the last 7 days for anything though!!! It’s been epic! Temp still holding at 31.2.

Wow!  And I though the ice buildup problem I'm having on my walkways was a big deal.  The dripping roof/ice issue is really bad with this event.

Also, southern areas aren't really depicted to be involved with this so fewer of us will be paying as close attention since we will be experiencing normal conditions.

Yeah.  I had a feeling that was going to be an issue this winter, but didn't want to say much about it.  With analogs like 1970 an N to S gradient was pretty likely.  I do think there is a fair chance the next round will be more favorable for you though.  Just a hunch.

Yeah...I'm not sure what to make of this.  An excellent case could be made for snow tomorrow night or against it.  At this point though something in the Monday night through Thursday morning period seems like a decent bet.

-22F at La Grande and -17F at both Burns and Lakeview last night is pretty incredible. South Lake Tahoe managed a respectable -9F as well.

One of those nights I wish we had weather stations in Paulina Crater and Hole-in-the-Ground. And is the old Fort Rock / Fremont 5 NW station still operational?

There are a few places I would like to see official weather stations set up.  I think both WA and OR have some spots that have incredible mins that aren't fully realized.  I've always wanted to see one in Liberty WA.  It sits in a deep valley at over 2000 feet elevation and always has heavy snow cover in the winter.

Wind Advisory posted by NWS SEA for Southwest Interior, Everett area, Tacoma area, Hood Canal, Bellevue area, Seattle area, and Bremerton area. 10pm tonight to 4pm tomorrow, calling for gusts up to 50 mph.

I'll bet it misses my area.  Too much easterly component so it will shunt the wind westward from here.  That's why the models show Western King County being so much colder than many places tonight.

Baseball needs to buck up and have a salary cap.  I'm so tired of the season starting with only 1/3 of the teams with a realistic chance.  The NFL had most of the teams this yr still in the playoff hunt with a couple weeks left and it's still crazy for Sundays games.

There is flashing there, you just can’t see it at that angle. However the ice was so thick it went well above the edges. And it’s not installed correctly.

Oh okay well that's good at least! I'm sorry you are having to deal with that, ice jams are no fun at all. We had to deal with leaks a number of times in our old home in the West Hills and it sucks.

It's nice to be in a home now that is designed for actual snow loads. We have lots of metal roofing and properly angled roof lines to prevent ice jams.

GFS not backing down. I think the EPSL will do pretty good as winds are more easterly than SE. 850s looking much improved Monday night through Wednesday as well. We might get an overrunning event just yet.

It's backed down considerably for many places

Wouldn't be surprised to see a bit of snow in the air and maybe a tiny amount of slushy accumulation here like the anafront a few weeks ago. Should be a massive dumping of wet snow in the coast range.

The air aloft is a lot colder with this one and precip rates also look higher. On the downside the timing is more during the day.

If we can get a blizzard warning in Seattle in the next 5 days I will get "BLIZZARD 2022" tattooed on my back.

If we have a blizzard warning for my area this winter I will get a Blizzard 2022 tattoo on my neck, and I have no tattoos and no plans to get one... Well unless we have a blizzard.

This could cause some problems, it would probably start as snow at least for much of W. Washington... Thursday seems like a very warm day down here.

I’m not sure what your definition of backing down is, but this ain’t it. image.thumb.png.b6d573c94987c63015ccdc00d4fa66aa.png

The Monday system has shifted south, still looking good for an overrunning storm up your way later in the week!
