Probably closer to the west slopes of the Olympics. The rain/cloud shadow effect drops off quickly moving east from the Seattle metro We were talking about Seattle of course. Started with the article about Seattle. And my contention is that Seattle does get a bad rap in terms of clouds and rain on a national level and that was a good example. And since you want to talk about here... there mitigating factors. A significant factor is east wind and offshore flow which is really one of our climate defining aspects. There are periods in the cold season that end up much sunnier out here than in Seattle. And we are away from the water which in the summer can mean more sun than Seattle in certain patterns. Overall... definitely more cloudy out here though and particularly with spring troughs. Let's go for 10" and set some new records. We've had some dry warm springs in the recent past so I guess this is the flip side of the coin this year. I do not believe for one minute this will have any impact on any drought situation or wild fire disasters up and down the West Coast.
