Just enough ash has fallen here to make the cars filthy.  Yuck.

Same here. Ash is still falling from the sky. Warm and totally overcast with smoke right now here.

The smoke is so thick this morning you can't even see the outline of the sun through it.

I know, it's nasty. That'll put a dent in the highs today. Weird yellow glow this morning.

84 degrees down in the valley this morning and extremely smoky with no sun visible at all.   The weather station near me shows a low of 79 last night.

The smoke and east winds have certainly messed with things more than a little bit.  All in all this has been the driest and smokiest summer I've ever seen.  It hasn't even seemed like the same climate this year.

It's literally been the driest 2.5 month stretch in SEA history, so I don't doubt that one bit.

A forum for the end of the world.

Can see the sun a bit in Bothell, but it's like a really dark orange/red color.

Ash on my car and my gf's car.

Looks like Multnomah Falls area is burning this morning. Looks like they'll save the lodge luckily. This is so heartbreaking...

Downslope east winds... its hellish here right now.   Choking smoke, windy, and hot.

Its like being near a campfire with the wind blowing the smoke right in your face but you can't just move to the other side.

D*mn. I wouldn't be hanging outside real long today in that. Hope you got a good air filtration system.

Wow, 277 right now in your area.

The last few frames of the Canadian smoke model show the smoke starting to make an eastward push by tomorrow afternoon. Looks pretty bad until then.

The 12Z run of the smoke model on Thursday morning...

The train continues..topical storm Jose has now formed behind Irma, forecast to become a hurricane. This storm is also a landfall threat, albeit a complicated evolution upcoming there.

Sorry about the perpetual OT posts, but I have to say that, if Irma avoids interaction with Cuba, this could very well be one of the worst natural disasters in US history. Irma is now at 180mph, gusts to 220mph, and SSTs/shear only grow more conducive to development over the next 5+ days.

Much of my family, including my 91 year old grandmother, lives in Miami, FL, so I'm pretty worried right now. That area has many more skyscrapers now than it did back when Andrew struck in 1992, and the population has soared. Not a good scenario.

Edit, now up to 185mph.

I like having the Irma posts here.
