February Weather in the Pacific Northwest

Deweydog

Recommended Posts

Looks like I picked up another half inch or so overnight, bringing my total from yesterday’s system to 1.5”.

Accumulations of a few inches or more look to be widespread from the Puget Sound area to the south Willamette Valley this morning. Nice to see!

Snowed more here at work in Port Orchard than at home. 2.5 new here.

It has been dumping the last hour, completely unexpected. It’s snowing in town in scappoose too. Probably another 2” here this morning.

I see that on radar, doesn't even look like much, but it probably is some kind of convergence as the offshore flow kicks in. Totally sunny here and 29 degrees.

Ended off with an inch last night. Snow ratio wasn't all that great due to the flake size never getting that big. All roads were icy (most probably still are) this morning.

Liking all these chances at snow in the next several days.  :)

Yes, he moved there back in November I believe. He took a position as the Coos Co. attorney, not the DA, the more "boring" stuff as he would say, contracts, deeds, policy vetting, that kind of thing I as I understand it.

He's picking up an impressive list of Oregon outposts. K-Falls, The Dalles, and now Coos Bay.

Not local to us here, but the ridge along the East coast is insane. 595dm heights over N. Carolina yesterday. Stu Ostro at the weather channel tweeted out that 595dm heights had never been verified over MHX (Morehead City, NC) before June, prior to yesterday. Some ridiculous record highs for February yesterday, like 77 in Wells, Maine. Previous monthly record for entire state had been 69. First 80 in February for the state of Massachusetts. Also 77 in New Hampshire broke the state record by 4 degrees for the month.

Also a hell of an anchor for our longwave trough. Perfect setup for continued cold here, and we've been reaping the rewards.

I was thinking about Phil last night. Found it interesting he went MIA. But I just think Tim pulled a super **** move last night. I think we all know that was intentional. Tim is a good guy I think, he seems to be a great family man and adds a lot to this forum at times. But coming on here while everyone was celebrating and cherry picking a model run that really has no support from anything else. It was kind of ridiculous.

I sure hope we can score a clear night with this airmass. Any left over snow will help big time, but this airmass wouldn't even need snow cover to produce cold lows if we get some clear skies.

But this would certainly help.

Coos Bay isn't the county seat of Coos County ;-)

Got an inch on the grass and cars. Didn't stick to the roads but this is more than I was expecting. Definitely a nice surprise that most all of us ended up scoring something.

Is it Coquille? D**n it!

That is one of those oddballs. You’d expect it to be North Bend or Coos Bay.

Still scouring the models for warm dry weather next week....Not seeing it.

I did not say warm.   I am looking for dry.

So I cannot be happy about some dry weather later next week on the 00Z ECMWF?   It was the 3rd run in a row to show it.   And next week was actively being discussed last night.

So if the models show an arctic blast at 8 days out then its perfectly fine to mention while it it snowing... but if someone mentions anything different (like a dry scenario which makes then genuinely happy) for the same period then its pure evil??

Please tell me the rules to completely protect the sensibilities of all the special children on here.   I am not subject to those rules.   If it showed lots of rain next week then numerous people would be trolling me.   Its all part of the fun here.    ;)

You didn't say warm just like you didn't pick out the warmest map the other day when Snowmizer called you out?

You need to get better at this whole back-peddle thing you do after you piss people off. If only posts fell off the face of the earth after a few hours... You'd be golden!

Slowly warms up is a relative term, so now he is going to post about a dozen maps to show what he was talking about. Prepare yourself, forum.
