February Weather in the Pacific Northwest

12z EPS, days 5-10, and days 10-15.

Beautiful. This is a classic clockwise intrahemispheric pinwheel. A very notorious post-SSW artifact, when it comes to delivering anomalous mid-latitude cold. The potential for something significant in March is now increasing, IMO.

The ICON could be a little overdone IMO.

The trough pushes further west on the 18z ICON and the low ends up stronger and further west too. Looks snowier on Sunday for the lowlands.

ICON has come into line with the GFS/Euro on the weak low on Tuesday and keeps all precip offshore. Only goes out to 120 hours but it looks like the Wednesday system is maybe coming in a bit faster on the ICON now.

Even if it’s on a model I’d never heard of until a few weeks ago, it’s nice to see last minute trends moving favorably for us.

I see the 18z GFS and the ICON both take the low pretty much right over us.

Looking at the soundings, should be snow as long as the precip rate can cooperate.

Good trends.

With the way this winter has gone here so far, at this point I feel like just seeing flakes in the air is a big victory.

PV breaks down and we got cold air running all over now.

So strange seeing an “H” symbol over Baffin Island. It must be the end times or something.

With how nice the long term upper level pattern appears and how many snow chances the models have been consistently showing, it'll be very sad if we come out of this with nothing to show for it. Just 2-4 inches regionwide isn't too much to ask for right?
