Same here it was looking like it was going to rain

It was close as the Totem Lake area. Still windy out there.

Just over an inch of rain has fallen here over the last 7 days... falling on 4 of the last 7 days.

Pretty much a normal summer here in terms of rain... maybe a little above normal now but there is not much rain in sight at this point.

I find this stuff fascinating... this tells how the geography of the Seattle area was carved by the last glacial period which peaked here around 16,900 years ago and reached down to Olympia at its southern extent.

At that time... what is now downtown Seattle was buried under 3,000 feet of ice!   And the land mass was weighed down about 275 feet.

I can easily comprehend that period of time... its only about 198 lifetimes using average life expectancy of 85.   That seems like an amazingly short time span into the past for downtown Seattle to be buried under 3,000 feet of ice.    And it might be buried again going out that far into the future.   It will definitely be buried like that again at some point.

It would have been really cool to see... with the same mountains we see today rising above the ice.

00Z ECMWF showed another soaking rain on Tuesday up here from Bellingham to Seattle.

Everything looks refreshed and happy this morning. Really nice to get a few hours of meaningful rain every 3 or 4 days in the summer.

This weather is pure crap.

I though summer started on July 5th.

Looks like we went right to fall.

Its going to be a decent day... and tomorrow looks beautiful.

A couple pics this morning... no sign of dryness here yet.   Road side grass is the first to brown out when it turns dry.    It has not looked this green on July 7th since maybe 2012 (but 2016 was probably close).

Clouds look pretty thin already so there should be some sun today.

The 500mb pattern did not look so hot... but the surface maps sure do.

I thought it looked like it backed off quite a bit when I first looked at the 500mb loop.

I have some drainage issues in my neighborhood, and I contacted a Geologist friend to better understand what was going on, and how My might be able to fix it, and it was pretty crazy to learn that the area my neighborhood is in was at one point under 300 feet of water.  He went on to say that the soil I was dealing with was 12,000 year old glacial runoff and seabed material, (which is very fine and drained poorly - hence the drainage issues).  He also told me that a 40m year old pollen fossil was found on Sqalicum Mtn NE of Bellingham (I live at the base of Squalicum Mtn.)

It was all very fascinating stuff.

Hard to imagine it raining anywhere. I don't have much memory of it and have mostly lost even the concept of what a soaking rain is.

Beautiful morning at Multnomah falls. Unreal devastation from that fire last summer. There should be a way to keep stupid people from buying fireworks.

Yeah that fire was really unfortunate.

It was this time last year that the fires were really getting rolling in BC. The plateau fire started July 7 and burned close to 1.29 million acres. This was several lightning caused fires that merged into one.

The elephant hill fire started July 6 and burned thru more than 474,000 acres. This was a single human caused blaze.
