And we wanted to scrap the GFS back in December…

The ECMWF has been pretty similar on this stuff though.

Probably a little too much rain in that forecast.  We'll see.

So pretty!  I love it when the -NAO comes into the picture and forces that deep trough over SW Canada and the NW.  To think this is over a week out too!  Can you say continental?

This seems a lot more reasonable and realistic than the up to 10 inches they were saying earlier.

Bright and sunny day here at 33F degrees. In less happy news, a rancher's dog jumped out right in front on me and was killed instantly on the state highway east of Alpowa Summit. Rancher said it wasn't my fault and he was there so he saw what happened. Car is pretty banged up. Still sucks though.

Reading the details of the WWA... I think the high end of the amounts might be up north in the foothills where the c-zone reaches the Cascades near Gold Bar on Sunday afternoon.    Its pretty silly to lump places like Maple Valley and Fall City in with that small area and just blanket say the entire EPSL could see 10 inches of snow.    It doesn't represent the reality of the situation.

They almost need to make a special CZ weather forecast zone. Since 80% of every frontal passage includes the CZ as a formidable force in terms of precipitation. It is wild how much MORE post frontal moisture Mukilteo receives vs Bellevue. Quite drastic

Looking like we could end up with the coldest Nov - Mar of the century so far.  I'll have to look at that more closely.  Incredible pattern we have gotten into.

It’s just embarrassing at this point. How do they go from forecasting 10 inches all the way down to 3 in the span of 6 hours when model guidance hasn’t even changed 😂 The original forecast was so outlandish.

Their graphic they posted on Twitter that I shared here earlier did not get a good response from anyone, not even the non weather geeks.

One time I thought I hit an animal and I felt terrible about it.  Not even sure if I really did.

Hope you aren’t ignoring that trough around day 10.  Beast mode.

The models are jumping all over that thing.  Could easily be another Arctic outbreak.

I’m done trashing the NWS after this but I’m surprised they didn’t make one of these graphics they usually do prior to a snow event. These are usually pretty good and easy to understand for everyone. (This is from Feb. 2019)

SEA has a great shot at ending up with measurable snow every month Nov - Mar.  They somehow managed a little bit in January.

Not sure out there.  This isn't really an east wind situation so you might do better than that.

I just mowed the grass front and back to prepare for a few inches of snow.  When the grass is cut low it makes two inches seem like five.

Hoping I get a dusting. 45 degrees outside today.  Very nice.

Also pruned my grapes back real good and gave everything some water.  It's been so dry.

When I was a kid it would never be a real snowstorm to me unless I couldn’t see a single blade of grass in my yard. I still kind of follow that rule to this day, but with the yards of other people.
