These are probly the types of transitory cool air masses we can expect for the foreseeable future. Occasionally skirting the Vancouver area and then all of the appreciable cold slides east from there.

SEA is guaranteed to have a wetter than normal December now.

Ya its been a pretty average month.  We have had a pretty good fall winter so far in terms of cold and dry days so no complaints here other than the lack of snow so far.  Just this week I have started feeling an itch for a little sunnier weather with more sun breaks in the clouds as it has felt a little too dark/cloudy lately which makes sense when thinking the time of year it is:).

MUDDY DOGS!

Had to keep it strategic and do some trail walking instead of letting them go nuts in the muddy back yard. 1/2” and counting. Almost looks like there could be some positive splats going on as well. 36. Now I’m enjoying a snack from the comfort of my kitchen table.

Pretty persistent line of precip stretching from north of Seattle nearly all the way down to Eugene.

SEA has picked up .38 so far today... putting their monthly total at 5.40 inches.

Normal to this point is 4.71 and normal for the entire month is 5.35 inches.

Jared will say its not raining at OLM so its not raining anywhere!    Its called a rain shadow... and its prominent with NW flow like today.

Were you out all night at an El Niño rave?

I wish, I slept at four yesterday cause of insomnia.

This is definitely a day where the hills and mountains squeeze the rain out of the clouds.

Then that means it's due to be right.

Of course when we refer to the Euro Weeklies, what we see is the ensemble mean.  Sometimes someone posts them, sometimes we get the crayon interpretation by Brett Anderson.  I found another crude interpretation from last nights run that mainly focuses on Canada, but does give some "clues".

Precip for the 1st week of January

2nd week Temps (no precip map given).  Notice the very warm temps in Alaska

3rd week of January

BTW, the weeklies from 3 days ago showed colder temps for the 1st week of January for us, now showing warmer.  These are always interesting, but they are clues and not great forecast.

It’s be nice to get some fun and cold events in January and February so the whole “winter ends with December” crowd can get a shot in the snowballs.

. I’m going hunting in south Texas January 17-21st. Last time I did that the day my flight left was January 10th 2017. Analog?

Should be on ESPN and I would think they get that channel up there?

That would be TSN and I'm not sure if it's on that channel as they frequently have NHL instead.

I always get the summer itch in mid February but this cured me last season on 2/18 which was just the beginning of a great 8ish day stretch of cold snowy fun!
