Down to 50 degrees with a good soaking rain coming down. Up to 0.18” of rain so far which will definitely go down as the wettest day of the month. Nice to have some decent rain coming down for the first time in awhile here.

Strange line of heavier rain through the Portland area right now. Looks pretty cool on radar.

Looks unlikely SEA will top .20" today, as precip will likely be winding down within an hour or two. That will be it for the month, which means they'll finish way below normal for the second May in a row.

4 of the past 5 Mays with less than 1" of rain...pretty incredible when you consider that from 1993 to 2014, there were only 2 such Mays.

Everything about this storm is sort of unusual.   Run the 500mb loop on Tropical Tidbits starting on Wednesday afternoon... this thing is perfectly tracing the coastline from the Aleutian Islands to San Diego.

Starts off the coast of the Aleutians on Wednesday...

0.29” here on the day. Still will finish below an inch here as well on the month. The past few mays have been drier and warmer this last decade more so than usual definitely.

. Ya it has been impressive. If I were to guess. SEA will hit around .35” of rain today. Approaching .5” already here. More than twice the amount of rain here which is only about 12 miles north.

It’ll be interesting to see if it’s pretty uniform down the valley or if it dries up.

Seems like your area has done better than the rest of the Western Washington lowlands. Overall it’s been another relatively dry may for most of the area. I know certain areas north of Seattle had a day with decent rainfall while most of us missed out.

South and east have fared worse than west and north.  When you look at the specifics, that area from Seattle North isn't even in drought like the rest of western Washington.  Pretty extreme line of wet and dry.  Have never seen such stark differences.  Driving from the south the other day the grass along the freeway went from dead and dry to green and no sign of dryness over just a period of 20min of driving.

definitely. I think another wet pattern is potentially coming after this dry period so it may wipe out the difference of drier conditions to the south. We will just have to see how it’ll play out but it has been interesting the line of dry to wetter areas this month.

Happy Saturday haha.  Currently 51 and raining.  0.41" so far.  Coldest and wettest day of the month...so nice it can line up on a holiday weekend.

This time last year it basically hadn't rained substantially for a month.  This isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Rain seems to be letting up now around Puget sound. Looks like the high temp for the day will be 53 degrees. Still more rain to go but 0.32” on the day so far. Nearly doubles the monthly total here, much needed.

. Im thinking it will add in later as sometimes the reading takes time. All the weather stations directly around it are at .30 or more.

correction most of the stations around SEA are around .25 and above. I came in just short of .5 at .42 on the day.

Looks like SEA finished with .19. Flatiron was right. Still don’t know how they only ended up with that much whe pretty much everyone else around was more.
