Kayla
FWIW... the 12Z EPS is quite a bit farther east with the cold air next week compared to the operational run. It also shows a warmer and wetter pattern developing by the end of the run. It's way colder for here so it is also trending west. It's going to be okay. 2 Quote Cold Season 2023/24: Total snowfall: 26" Highest daily snowfall: 5" Deepest snow depth: 12" Coldest daily high: -20ºF Coldest daily low: -42ºF Number of subzero days: 5 Personal Weather Station on Wunderground: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMTBOZEM152#history

snow_wizard
I'm not too surprised by the ECMWF solution today. It has been advertising a very strong cold surface high over Western Canada for a few runs now and the trend has also been for a stronger GOA ridge next week on all of the models. A stronger GOA ridge will cause the Canadian surface high to drop straight south instead of SE like earlier runs. A very cold outcome is pretty possible. 1 Quote Death To Warm Anomalies! snow_wizard
47/28 on the day. Currently 38. The 33 at SEA today was pretty noteworthy. They have had 4 mins of 35 or lower now this month. I'm guess you might have to go back decades to find the last time that happened in October. The fact it has happened with three different cold air masses puts it in rarified territory. At any rate I think a lot of places will be colder tonight than last night. I managed 28 even though it struggled to decouple last night. The air is still bone dry so this could be good! 1 Quote Death To Warm Anomalies! wx_statman
That makes 4 potential state records? If we count unofficial readings, then 6 states exceeded previous *official* state records. It's a little difficult to sort things out at the moment, but this is what I'm aware of: -46 at Peter Sinks, UT (outside of sink locations, two unofficial stations in Randolph hit -23 and -22 which also exceed the state record for towns)-33 at two unofficial stations in WY (Union Pacific 345 and WYDOT 56)-21 at two unofficial stations in ID (Copper Basin RAWS and Fairfield AGRIMET)-21 at Jefferson, CO (CoAgMet)-17 at a Union Pacific weather station in NV (also an official -16 at Austin Airport exceeding state record of -10 from 1970)-16 at Harrison 9NE COOP, NE *EDITED - Austin, NV actually hit -16 this morning, not -15.
