How dynamic did that final warming end up being?

Looks more like a static final warming than a dynamic one. Analog methods failed bigly.

2nd day of hail and thunderstorms...still hail on the ground 3 hours later.  Dropped down to 39 during the last storm.

I think it’s adjusting the wavetrain in a way that’ll favor a cooler/wetter solution if it continues.

 

PV breakdown with IO/Indo-Pacific forcing of a lower frequency variety has climatologically favored western troughing in late March/April and a ULL-type pattern in late April/May based on NCEP-NCAR reanalysis.

Hopefully if that verifies, the PNW and Norcal get more much needed rain and mountain snow.

This March will likely end drier than 2019. Much of late winter last year was a fairly wet period for me anyway.

Now getting more rain than I asked for. Up to .7” in just the last coupe hours. Yard is flooded now.

Still some good agreement on the GFS ensembles for a wet period to close the month, but massive ensemble spread after that.

Picked up some decent rainfall here in the last 12 hours...picked up 0.40” yesterday before midnight and another 0.19” this morning to go to 1.98” for march. Have gotten 0.89” the last 3 days.

Sounds about right. North Seattle also got a nice PSCZ. Of course I was never expecting much out of NW flow in the Coast Range rainshadow desert.

Looks like I picked up close to .20” of rain overnight with temps in the upper 30s. Nice cold rainfall. Doesn’t surprise me that places with a little elevation saw some snow.

Looks like thicknesses bottomed out at 522dm for PDX early this morning. Not too shabby. The current trough has really grown on me. If we could see some clearing and frost tonight it would be a pretty well rounded event.

Andrew wasn’t lying. That’s a great pattern for some cold lows the first week of April, on the 12z GFS.
