Chewbacca Defense
1 hour ago, Skagit Weather said: Yesterday I picked up 0.81" which made it the wettest July day I've recorded on my weather station (surpassing the thunderstorm total of 0.73" on July 3, 2012). The wind also almost gusted to 30 mph which was the second strongest July gust I've recorded. BLI picked up 0.73" yesterday on their second driest calendar day of the year. Before yesterday it had only rained more than 0.01" on four days since 1949. The 0.73" total is also the wettest single day so far of 2023. I assume they'll have a wetter day come autumn, but if not it would be wild to have the wettest day of a year to be statistically almost the driest day. I'm curious if that is the true total, I know that for a while there the weather station was not reporting any rain accumulation. The guy who maintains the Whatcom County weather FB page (Randy) mentioned it in a post and said he reached out the KBLI ATC to see if they could call the NWS. It has definitely been very unusual up here in terms of precip, thanks for posting those stats. Side note, I was surprised how many folks were out getting plane washes. The soccer park is a few miles off the end of runway 16, and there were quite a few GA aircraft flying in, especially considering how heavy the rain was at times. I could also hear the border patrol spinning up their Blackhawk, but never saw it.
