Imagine how busy this place would be if a major hurricane equivalent windstorm were barreling into Seattle. 😱

A Columbus Day windstorm redux!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Was kind of cool when Port Angeles Foothiller was on location in the path of the storm a few days ago, but otherwise it doesn’t seem like a very noteworthy hurricane. If it was a mega cat 5 that was looking to make a direct hit on a major city, then I would be tuning in a little more.

Yeah I agree. I’d probably be more interested if it was something crazy but this seems like a pretty typical event in typical hurricane country.

Did you watch my 9 hour video of a tropical storm 4000 miles away? Imagine if it was all snow and that that waterfront was Commencement Bay! 😱

I liked that video because you get to see the entire event uncut from the exact same location/perspective. For some reason that really tunes my brain in (tho even I couldn’t watch the whole thing, skipped a bit here and there).

That said I’ll gladly cease posting OT stuff on this part of the forum if needs be. Just figured it was interesting weather that would keep our minds engaged thru the end of the summer doldrums. Probably some degree of projection on my part, but still. 🌪️ 🌀 💨 ⛈️

I can almost hear the trees and vegetation breathing a sigh of relief. Need more liquid, keep it coming!
And 2 frogs watched me take apart some dog crates at work just a bit ago.

As y’all can probably guess, I get restless at this time of year. 😂 Time to close the book on summer, it’s already overstayed its welcome.

Good chance we see Idalia again in 2029, especially because they're running out of 'I' names.

One of the weirdest conversations I’ve seen was people actually debating the gender specific of the name of this hurricane. 🤣

Picked up 0.51” from the rain yesterday. Nice to get a decent soaker to hopefully end smoke season.

Probably won't, unfortunately. We need something more widespread.

Was looking at the provincial summary for BC this morning and along with the Gulf Islands I was in the just about most favoured area for precipitation yesterday. Most places got less than I did, many got only a few mm, a few got nothing. In the interior, amounts generally ranged from a few mm to nothing at all.

I was up in the interior for 5 days and got back late last night.  Spent a couple nights camping with my girls on the Thompson river just east of Ashcroft.  And then a couple nights up at our cabin at Watch Lake.  It was pretty nice weather for camping. Mid 80s to around 90 but the mornings were cool.  It was a bit smoky but not bad until Tuesday morning.  My wife says I missed out on some thundershowers on Monday, we didn’t see any up in the interior.  Picked up 0.16” of rain here at home while we were gone.

I heard there were some severe warned storms up on central Vancouver Island on Monday evening. Which is pretty unusual.

If they reopen Hwy 1 through the Canyon (they are considering it) then I plan to make a road trip up through Whistler, Pemberton, and Lillooet and down the Canyon this weekend. Was concerned about smoke but looked at some air quality sensor data and Pemberton seems to be quite clean right now.

It was open yesterday for awhile. But single lane alternating with long delays.  I took the Ashcroft to Merritt route. 97c I think.  And then the Coq home.  On the way up we took the Coq to Merritt and then Tunkwa lake road to Savona.  Saw the big trucks in Logan lake.

Split them 3 ways.  With my portion I’m gonna sear some for dinner the next couple nights.  Then smoke the rest and have a canning party on Monday and give some to whoever helps me can it.
