Never would have thought we would have a Rangers/ Diamondbacks World Series this year... however here we are! I can't stand the Astros or Phillies, so really happy with the results of the Game 7's the last two nights. 

Rooting for Arizona to win it all! Hope you can find your way into the ballpark for a game.

I guess this is getting into November, but what a surprise...not! Long range guidance doing what we saw earlier this year, with troughs looking better with time. Too much of a ridge bias in the longer range ensemble guidance.

My Halloween evening forecast looking very interesting, especially later at nite. Yes, first flurries of the season are advertised for Halloween nite and into the first of Nov. as a disturbance rolls on through. Lows dipping into the 20s that evening. Halloweeners will need to dress appropriately as this is looking like a cold one. Highs looking to be right around 40F and 30s for highs the following day. Brrrrrrr! November will enter on the nippy side w/ flurries perhaps flying in the air. Tis The Season.

The official H/L yesterday at Grand Rapids was 76/46 that 76 was the 4th warmest for any October 24th There was trace of rain at the airport here in MBY I had 0.10” is a short but heavy thunderstorm. The sun was out 56% of the possible time. For today the average H/L is 57/39 the record high of 78 was set in 2012 and the record low of 20 was set in 1960. The record rain fall is 1.05” is 2021 and the record snow fall of 2.4” fell in 1962. Last year the H/L was 67/53 and there was 0.33” of rain fall.

With a warm south wind and lots of sunshine yesterday afternoon I was able to cut the grass. I wonder if that will be the last time for 2023? It all depends on how the next two weeks play out.

Back to weather - 13 of the last 17 days have featured below normal temperatures including yesterday. That all changes starting today and lasting through Sunday with our high temps reaching the 70's before a turn to much colder in time for Halloween. With the exception of some possible morning fog with the longer nights and mild readings...we look to stay dry till at least Sunday.

Records for today: High 80 (1900) / Low 22 (1952) / Rain 2.31" (1980)

lifting out of the southern Plains resulting in an area of
developing surface low tracking along the frontal boundary into the
northern Ohio valley/southern Great Lakes by Sunday. Track of this
system in addition to accompanying remnant Gulf moisture looking
increasingly likely to bring a long duration of moderate to at times
heavy rain to SE MI to start the new week. Below average
temperatures then follow this system with highs beginning of the
work week struggling to get above 40.

We had snow flying back on Halloween 2019 in SWMI. The other brutally cold one I remember was 1988 in the Flint area before I moved north. Here's the last 4 days of the month:

Was helping some friends with their kids and it was right at 32F by the time trick or treating wrapped up.

So typical that this would happen in a Nino autumn before it's cold enough to snow, and then not during actual heart of winter, lol. That is a sweet AFD tho. Can only hope..

Still watching the potential for a hard freeze going into next month here. Probably will see a low of 26-30F on Oct 31 and/or November 1.

Hard freeze coming here Monday morning as temp will drop into the low to mid 20s with wind-chill around 13.  So much for easing into Winter!

The official H/L yesterday was 68/58. It was a kind of upside down day with he high coming just after midnight and the low coming at 2:26 PM. There was 0.33” of rain fall and no sunshine. The highest wind gust was 23MPH out of the SW. For today the average H/L is now down to 56/39 the record high of 79 was set in 1939 and the record low of 24 was set in 1962 and 1990. The record rain fall amount of 1.11” fell in 2019 the record snow fall of 2.0” fell in 1925. Last year the H/L was 60/33 and there was 0.86” of rain fall. At the current time there is a light mist falling here in MBY with a temperature of 63.

Enjoying what looks to be my last cool low for a few days in Kentucky. Some 60+ degree mornings are forecast here.

Got to 48 this morning after a high of 80 yesterday. At least we have evening cool offs, more so compared to back in September. There are mosquitos flying around at certain hours (and wasps too), though the numbers are decreasing each day. 

I still hear a Lesser Angle-wing katydid at night which is kind of surprising. I thought they were exclusively a Summer insect (to perhaps early Fall, but its later!).

Today should be several degrees warmer than yesterday with the warmth peaking by Saturday. At least for Chester County any record highs look beyond reach as those records are in the low 80's. Cooler air spreads into the area by Monday with temps falling to well below normal again by next week. We may see higher spots by next Wednesday struggling to get out of the low 40's with our first widespread freeze potential increasing by that time...so enjoy the warmth the next few days!

Wow.  It’s right on us.  Seems abit early this year.  What has been our earliest freeze in Okla/No Tx?  
More rain on the doors step. It should begin around 4-5 pm.

With so much water in the atmosphere it’s going to be an active winter down south.  Sharpen your pencils guys!

The official low of 61 yesterday set a new record for the warmest minimum for any October 26^th the high was 68. There was 0.61” of rain fall and a reported 1% of sunshine. For today the average H/L is 56/39 the record high is 78 set in 1927 and the record low of 19 was set in 1976 the record snow fall for the date and month is 8.2” in 1967. Last year the H/L was 52/29.

It was a very warm night for a October night and new record warm minimums were set at Grand Rapids, Lansing with 61, Muskegon and Holland 63. To the east new record warm minimums were set at Flint 61 and Saginaw 60 Detroit had the 2^nd warmest for any October 26^th with a low of 60.

Finally had to turn the heat on this morning, house down to 55. Have held out all through October, with many times down to 58-60. We have no school today, we are home. If we had school, I might have waited until tonight. Have seen lows by Monday and Tuesday in the low teens with wind chills close to 0.

Mulched and mowed the yard this morning. As cold as I’ve been in a long time. That north wind just goes right through you, I was dressed in many layers, hood stocking cap, gloves, and still had to come in to warm up halfway through.

77/56 today. Nearly got a totally overcast day, minus a few minutes of a sunbreak sometime between 1-2pm.

Leaves falling at higher quantities now, every time the winds pick up.
