PDX at 67, approaching their 2nd record high this week.

The warm blasts behind the last two systems have been stout. Seems like last half of October climo has been intruding into the first half of November in recent years. Glad we are gradually transitioning into a cooler and slightly more seasonable pattern starting tomorrow.

I guess at very least warmth this time of year is anything but traditional El Niño timing.

These two statements seem to be wildly contradictory.

Not all... the grass everywhere is lush green and that is a massive contrast from last year.   Meanwhile the trees are putting on quite a November show.     Downvote away buddy... pettiness is truly your specialty.

Not really. I’m talking about the grass. Very nice greenup this fall.

Can empathize with the tree obstruction issue. Impossible to circumvent entirely. That’s why IMO the Davis VP2 is preferable in a typical suburban setting. All sensors are detachable and can be located in different places for best siting.

And stand your ground with your wife! Install it on the roof when she’s not around, good chance she won’t notice for at least a few weeks. Will give you time plan out how you’ll make it up to her when she does figure it out.

Unfortunately, a Davis is not in the cards.  Upgraded my car a couple of months ago, need to upgrade my laptop, get a new couch and then there's the potential knee surgery.  Cash is going to be pretty tight for the next several months.

1.16" on the day for KSEA. Not bad, and better than expected.

They have gotten pretty expensive.  I got mine 11 years ago for only about 450cdn.  I think they are over a grand now.  They last though. I’ve replaced a few parts but the replacement parts aren’t to expensive.  The Iss transmitter has gotten a bit glitchy after a heavy wet snowfall the past couple winters.  So I may need to replace it at some point.

Hope you can avoid that. I've had 5 on my right knee.

Sounds like it might be time to upgrade the wife and station.  You can get remote wireless solar anemometers for Davis stations

I would like to get one of the ultrasonic anemometers (no moving parts).  Maybe they will be affordable someday.

Ambient Weather WS-2000.  It's been a great station, and seems to be fairly accurate.  I'm just in a horrible spot to capture the wind, and it has only gotten worse over the years. I have a 2 story house, and if I had to guess, the peak of the roof is at least 30-35 feet up.  I mentioned to my wife about putting the station up there and got a "HELL NO!"  Apparently aesthetics are more important than weather data.  In hindsight, not sure why I married her (kidding).

They don't look that bad when they are mounted up there.

Looks like they are about $700 or so on the low end and get up to $1,200 pretty easily.

Luckily there doesn't seen to be ligament damage, so I'm hoping it will be manageable.  The pain has actually gone down over the past week, but it still "catches" when I straighten my leg out, and that of course doesn't feel too hot.

Unfortunately, when coming down the street, there is a big clearing next to my house and as a result it is very prominent, especially the location where I would mount the station.  My neighbor is very close on the opposite side, I would be worried about the temperature being influenced by having both houses in  such close proximity.

Not a hill I really want to die on for an "all in one" station, if for no other reason than it would be such a PITA to service.  It takes 2 ladders to get up on that part of the roof.   If I ever get to a point of getting a Davis, I think it would be an easy argument for just an anemometer up there.
