There are very interesting changes in the NAM for the mid week system at the 500mb level.  That thing still has real potential.

Going south? At least you will get some snow. Hate to see you miss out on snow. You are one of the most positive guys on here and it seems like your area misses out more often than others.

1.5". Unfortunately the bigger flakes turned to sleet pretty much right after my post. Probably the peak of the warm nose right now.

Models show the peak is close.

The NAM digs more a bit further west.

We do ok here on some events.  The weird thing is we almost always get something when snow is in the forecast.  On this one we got 1/4" going into the cold.  Gone now thanks to wind and sublimation.

In the last 20 minutes, I've gone from 100% snow, to 80% sleet, back to 80% snow, and then back to 80% sleet again just now. I've never seen so many rapid fire precip type changes before.

Yeah it's been really amazing how rapidly the precip type has been changing.

Pretty crazy day in North Bend (Ken's Truck Town area).  Currently 15 with frequent gusts over 50.

I was just at Safeway in NB and its brace yourself when walking type of wind.

This one really is a panic situation.  Power outages with bitter cold.  Not to mention some areas of bad ZR.

Between wind and varying precip types that is an almost impossible question it sounds like.

I think snowwiz lives in Covington. That area does better than Seattle usually.

Pretty much impossible to measure. Some bare ground and some 6 inch drifts. A lot of sleet though so cutting down on potential totals dramatically.

About 2" of some mix between snow and sleet right now, but I doubt any of my measurements are accurate with the 50mph gusts. Some pretty decent drifts around

Much bigger flakes here all of a sudden but holding onto 100% snow.

Definitely hope for the sleet people to switch back over quickly.

It is trying to go back to mostly snow around here but the p type has been fluctuating constantly for a while.

Hopefully the mid levels only cool from here.

It always amazes me the amount of sleet/ZR or lack of snow we can consistently get with such a cold air mass. I know it has to do with the sandwiching of warmer layers in the upper atmosphere but you would think it wouldn’t be so common and we would have more snow and sometimes we do. It really just shows how dynamic our local climate is when you factor in valleys, mountains and Pacific Ocean storms.

Yup.  This event picked North Bend as the relief valve.  Fairly windy here, but not like they are having.

It seems to be either North Bend or Enumclaw but not often both at the same.
