Even the EPS is more bullish on a jet retraction during week two on this run.

Wow!

That's pretty surprising.  Cle Elum "only" dropped to around -10 during this event, but they plunged to -33 in Jan 1950.

Yeah, it was very hit and miss for eastern WA but definitely top tier in some areas.

A forum for the end of the world.

100 miles? Other models aren’t that different, mostly temps and precip.

Its 110 miles from here to Bellingham... we do it all the time.    That is basically where the ECMWF shows the snow starting.

Yeah, that's the biggest thing that turns me off about the Southeast. I'm a heavy sweater as it is, don't need crazy humidity.

Sweating is healthy. You don’t even have to workout. Who needs a sauna!!! 😁

I've been to New Orleans, Pensacola, Tampa, Daytona. Granted, never the SE coast along Georgia and South Carolina. All seasons.

My better half has a work conference scheduled for May in Charleston. Maybe I'll get a taste, but for now I'm very glad I'm not in that part of the country.

Charleston is a beautiful city too. If you’re on the coast you will get a taste for sure. And it’s not humid yet in May, so you probably won’t sweat your balls off either.

Last last summer was uniquely terrible in SE GA. It’s not always like this. Big positive departures for that region.

The low track it shows doesn't mesh with the lack of snow being shown north of Everett, but south of Bellingham.  All of the other models were actually south with everything tonight except that one.

Freezing rain being reported around Bellingham now.

Should transition to snow per model consensus. Many models have shown some freezing rain in tht area.

That moisture coming in from the west will probably drop the snow levels a bit.

We come from the land of the ice and snow.

At least some ZR falling in the valley as temps Eugene to Portland are still mostly in the high 20s

Quite an epic battle here between the precipitation types. One minute I'll have all rain, then the next it will be all snow. A couple minutes later it will be solid sleet. There's about 0.1" of some broken-crystalline form of ice on the ground that has turned it white which I'm happy about. Temperature still hovering above freezing so there's some melting ongoing as well, but it's better than anything I've see so far this winter--I can't complain.

Freezing rain, then snow…. That’s what happened on December 28th 1996 up north there pretty sure. Going to be a wild day in Whatcom County tomorrow.

Environment Canada thinks the low level arctic air stays in the lower Fraser valley until Friday.  Forecast for Abbotsford is 26F with blowing snow tomorrow.

A generous 0.5" of snow on the ground now. Any time I get too complacent it switches to sleet, but I would say it's mostly snow now with a temp of 32.4F.

Don't let yourself get complacent then.  You must pay full attention at all times!

It always kills me in these cases where other places are getting snow at temps warmer than here and I'm stuck with ZR. 29.5 here.

Could be downtown Seattle, where it's 30F and raining.

Called this 4 days ago. A miss to the south and north is on par for us. If Friday pans out, we may even miss out to the west. XD

Looking forward to a reset in a few weeks. Perhaps the central and south sound will have better luck.

Up to about 1" now and the temperature has just dropped to 32.0F. I really still have no idea how much snow I'm going to get. I've already picked up more than the Euro forecast and I'm about on pace (if not slightly ahead) of the 00z RGEM which gave me 12". I think it could transition to rain at any moment, but there's a very small chance that maybe I'll pick up an incredible amount of snow.

Going outside is like a war zone. Melting ice causing explosions and incredibly dangerous conditions in every direction. This is insanity. Still no power.

This will be remembered for a long time.
