I know this is a washington-heavy forum but does anyone have thoughts on situation in Portland and the return of offshore Thursday. Most forecasts are calling for a cold rain with temps in the mid to high 30s. GFS continues to show temps below freezing and more ice accumulation thursday afternoon/night. It looks reasonably borderline. Temps have been slower to warm this morning. my concern is that if we only make it to the mid 30s today, it’s not going to take very much additional cold air to create problems. But forecasters still seem confident portland makes it into 40s today. Would love any input. Sitting at 28 right now.

Well I'll be dipped.  North wind has already made it south of SEA.  The I-90 /18 junction dropped from 40 to 33 already.  Nice to catch a break.  My current temp of 33 might just hold for the high today.

Always be suspicious when the ECMWF shows brisk south winds in a situation like this.

MossMan's kids are going to rebel as teenagers by hating snow and wanting to move to Florida. They will only apply to colleges in areas with high humidity. (Hope I'm wrong though. Your kids are adorable and it's awesome you get to play in the snow with them.)

Went out for a run before the snow stopped. I love the colors of the water when the lowering clouds bring snow. Ended up with about 3” here and temperature has dropped to 31F with a light north wind.

Still hope for a good part of King County.  Love the fact the south winds were much less of an issue than some models showed they would be.  Very good chance my high ends up 35 or lower today.  I'll take any victory I can get.

Basically a near-total whiteout once you get to the more exposed areas of town. Drifts are building up very rapidly.

Just came back from an appointment, and it's looking like Hoth down here with the winds, I can't imagine what it's like up there.
