February 2024 Weather in the PNW

Are you maybe a bit higher than the main Sun River area?  I was under the impression that it averages about 60 inches a year. Several websites say that.    But, like many areas, there are surrounding areas that can get a lot more.  Maybe youre a bit closer to Mt Bachelor and you get more snow than the main Sun River area.

I remember years ago my parents stayed there and really liked it.  Sounds like a great place

I'm 100 something feet higher than sunriver resort which is where the 60" stat comes from, and on the north side of town. We're usually a couple degrees cooler than the resort so often times we'll be getting 32-33 degree snow when they're getting 34-35 degree chunky rain, and we get quite a bit more precip than them thanks to our location and elevation. Microclimates in the PNW are pretty amazing!

That's why my name is Sunriver Snow Zone, because I'm in the sunriver snow zone!

Can't believe it's already been 5 years, it felt like it was just yesterday! That snow event dropped close to 3 feet on us, which is the biggest snowstorm we've seen in the 26 years we’ve lived in the area!D.thumb.jpg.8cc21734e572d5494b9b9cddf4a7d104.jpgE.thumb.jpg.77236e03dd1c236d03c68abfb8c5c4d3.jpg02-25.thumb.jpg.ae9040b08cd39364a4798773f379ad03.jpg

I assume you are asking how the dog in those photos is doing, they are currently 7 yrs old and healthy, and sleeping right now. But I honestly am not sure what you're asking.

That was a wild storm that came in today over the North Puget Sound.  It was overcast, then within a matter of minutes, strong wings, white cap waves, and heavy rain.  It came on so fast, but lasted throughout the evening and is still windy and now.  Fantastic storm for storm watchers! Just another fine example of how fast weather can turn for the worse.

If tonight is any indication the lower res models are the way to go on this.  The low res NBM nailed the c-zone placement tonight while the high res was awful.  If low res is better tomorrow evening it's show time for King County.

Shower activity firing up in the Straight between Victoria and Port Angeles. May help trigger another Convergence Zone in the North Sound later tonight.
