April 2024 Weather in the PNW

Recommended Posts

In n Out is great. Imagine Dick's drive in, but everywhere across the SW instead of just the Seattle area. I had my first burger from them at the central Hollywood location on a road trip just out of high school. It's impressively good for a fast food joint.

In n out is just another fast food place, I don't get the hype. Although I will say, the shakes are REALLY good.

I remember hearing about when they opened that one in Keizer oregon a few years back, people waited in line for over 6 hours on the opening day.... just for a cheeseburger that tastes okay.... they could've spent a fraction of that time cooking themselves a gourmet cheeseburger at home, and it would've costed them the same amount. Humans are weird

You know who makes a surprisingly good milkshake? Shari's.

Closest one to here is in either Roseburg or Keizer.

Guess they decided to skip the Eugene/Springfield metro area.

I can't imagine being north of 40 and still eating fast food regularly. Unless you have the most amazing metabolism or have time to workout 6 hours a day it seems like the perfect pipeline to obesity. Whenever I make the mistake of grabbing a McChicken or something because I'm in the hurry I always feel like garbage for the next few hours. Like eating poison.

But what I really came here to mention is you can feel a change in the air outside this morning. It is a cloudy and mild morning, but the positive vibes of nature are quite apparent. Beneficial and life giving rains are on the way and nature is rejoicing.

Ended up with a 75/45 day here yesterday. Sunny and warm with high clouds and times and a cooling breeze in the evening.

Looking at the 500mb pattern I wouldn’t have called it a setup where PDX would make a run at 80 but there it was. Looks like VUO put up a 76/41 day.

Took advantage of a weekday off to get a nice Columbia Gorge sampler in yesterday, with a focus on the Little White Salmon area.

It's more notable when PDX isn't the warmest station in the metro area. 1-3 degrees seems standard at this point.

What’s really notable is how routinely they’ve been exceeding guidance by up to 3-4 degrees this spring. I think even Mediterranean Mark only had them at 74 for yesterday.

Great news! They are also going forward with the Beaverton In-N-Out 🍔 location too. I’m guessing once they found out an In-N-Out was opening in Ridgefield they decided to go ahead with the project since it would be less traffic with another PDX location. Now having 3 🍔 locations in PDX would be good since all the traffic can be spread out more.

“WASHINGTON COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) - A land use application to open an In-N-Out Burger in Beaverton on Highway 10 was approved Tuesday, according to Washington County.

The proposed In-N-Out location is next door to the Chick-fil-A at Southwest Beaverton Hillsdale Highway and 107th Avenue, and will be a 3,885-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru and outdoor seating.”

My favorite fast food place is Burgerville since they use local grass fed 🐂 and Tillamook 🧀. But In-N-Out is a close second. You can’t go wrong with an Animal Style Double Double 🍔 and🍟! 🤤

Does anyone have a link to localized soil temps that would cover Whatcom County?  I think I am going to plow ahead with my yard project despite the rain, but it occurred to me that with the upcoming cool temps, I need to make sure the soil is going to be warm enough for the grass seed to germinate.  Looks like I need to be at least 50 degrees....

The challenge on this is I need to have a full yard again by May 31st so that my wife can kick the dog out to the back yard while I am gone.

My son just asked me about the weather this weekend so I ran the ECMWF surface maps because there are usually breaks during stormy patterns in Seattle.   What a mess.   Very little sun for maybe a week.   Clouds at multiple levels for many days... damp and really chilly daytime temps.    Sun and showers every day during spring troughing is one thing.   This is going to be something worse.   Timing of our trip couldn't have been any better.

I haven’t had McDonalds in a decade…However I do still crave a quarter pounder now and again but I always refrain when driving past. Also it’s getting quite expensive, we stopped at Taco Time after the kids soccer practice to grab dinner and it was $50! Good lord! Another reason why we rarely eat out while on the go anymore.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

We break down during our annual road trip to MN and will stop at McDonalds a couple times.   They actually have really good coffee.  We never go to McDonalds when when we are home.

In a lot of places, fast food prices have inflated more than any other type of food - mainly because the cost of labor has skyrocketed.
