Quite the way to break my sub-40 high streak of 12 days. Did not miss the warm weather and especially did not miss the rain. C'est la vie, I suppose. I don't think many places pulled off the 12 consecutive sub 40 highs. That was pretty impressive. The thing I really hate about this climate is so many times when we get something good there has to be some kind of a price to pay. One of the great exceptions was the winter of 1928-29. We had a run of weather quite a bit better than we just had and then it was cold and clear for the entire first half of Feb. Quote Death To Warm Anomalies! Well we stayed in the 2nd one (furthest from lodge). Also stayed in the lodge in Sep 2019. Love the owners of that place, it's spendy but worth it. Great people there. After we'd spend the day snowshoeing up on the ridge, we'd go inner tubing down that giant hill. Their daughter would snowmobile down and tow us back up. Food was to die for. Never ate so much in my life. One of the coolest places I've stayed. Imagine waking up every morning and looking right at the Enchantments. On New Years Eve the locals shot off about two hrs of fireworks and the big boomers would echo far down the canyon towards town. Except for Longbeach for the 4th, it was the best fireworks I've been around, esp in that setting. Yes, it's spendy but it was worth every penny.
