Well this cold snap is off to a pretty pathetic start in the temperature category. Lows in the 31-33 range in NW Oregon so far.

 

Can tell its a cold airmass though. Down to 26 up here.

Only down to 28 degrees here so far.  Can't wait for the sun to come up to get some pics, but it looks like it'll clear at just the wrong time.  Clouds all night keeping temps up, then clearing as the sun comes up.

Nam shows decent snow starting tomorrow morning from pdx-olym. Then another snow band for pdx Wednesday night.

Down to 27 now.  Roads aren't horrible in all areas, considering it is just now clearing some.  You can see how wet the snow was when it fell, very clingy to the trees etc.

Made it only down to 24 here, but it never cleared. Still lists of clouds out. I have noticed temps in the basin are around 20 and a slight offshore flow has started.

Still some flurries falling here. 3K NAM says 3-5" here tomorrow night. 1-3" for the Salem area. Maybe TigerWoods will get something. Though his area looks more towards the 1".

Figured you would have something negative to say. In our climate this is to be expected. We could have killed the clouds and had no snow? It also has nothing to do with whether it snows tomorrow

Well the GFS is on board. Holy !

Band held together long enough last night and temps had dropped to 33 when this last batch of showers started and  finally got some sticking snow.  Had a good amount of snow fall earlier but was just too warm at 35f and only had a light dusting of slop. Ended up with 3/4" when it stopped around 9pm. Temps bottomed out here at 28f this am.  Surprised it wasn't a couple degrees colder.  Areas close by like Happy Valley and OC have anywhere from 1/2" to 2".  Pretty elevation sensitive.).  Micro climates really become obvious around the area.  That one degree difference between 34f and 33f was significant.  Sad when we have to grovel over one degree that isn't even freezing in hopes of getting accumulating snow but now days, I'm not gonna be picky.  At least I had almost a full day of on and off big flakes coming down even though most of it didn't stick until late.

I’m ready! Bring it! I had to order paw boots for my dogs this morning and pay the price to get them by tomorrow...soft fluffy snow of yesterday is now chunky hard snow, my dogs now have bloody toes from running in it and since it’s not going anywhere for a while I figured I better get them protected! The good news is that the ball now stays on top of the snow!
