Not much but it is something... You can also see the little structure that served as my well covering was blown over and destroyed last night.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Geesh, 218,000 outages? Sorry, that’s just gross negligence on the part of PSE. They should carry out a large scale tree-trimming operation like PEPCO did back in 2012. Made a huge difference.

I hear the only way to get between Carnation and Duvall is via our hill and the only reason our hill is open is because a group of guys went out with their chainsaws and cleared all the trees.

All the other roads and the highway are blocked by down trees and power lines.

Same thing here.

People with chainsaws are the only way roads are opening up.

A lot of open space out here is covered with forest. Trimming millions of trees every few years to prepare for possible windstorms would be a ridiculous undertaking and not worth the cost.

Nice to see some folks finally experiencing some active weather.  :)

Looking forward to eventually getting in on the action at some point down the road.

No different here. And while it was indeed a ridiculously expensive endeavor that took over a year to complete, the project has already paid for itself.

So they trimmed every tree in Maryland? Very impressive. Just a few more years before the limbs start to grow back and they’ll have to do it all over again. No power outages at least!

Do you have any idea how many trees are over here?? They grow 12 to 24 inches a year. It's a never ending process.

We come from the land of the ice and snow.

It would take more like a decade and massive resources to clear around every line in western Wa...not going to happen. You have been to the northwest correct?

An enormous amount of the tree’s here are fir tree’s that can tower a hundred feet above the power lines. Trying to trim all of those and the lower ones would be a nearly impossible task that would take many years. Also when the wind blows like this we are not just talking a few limbs but entire trees coming down over power lines. Also, many of the branches that break off and hose transformers and more are not even over the lines or close to the road but are blown onto them from some distance. Your option is not concidering how forested we are and all of the facts.

In Juneau we have year round crews trimming branches that are next to power lines. We regularly get gusts like this storm. It's totally possible. Since my move down to Everett I have been surprised at how little is done to protect the lines.

Slept through this last event, whoops. Nice big sucker hole over Everett right now. Sunny with a light breeze here.

How does the population of Juneau compare to the population of the Puget Sound region? Not to mention the rest of western Wa. ;)

I can see on my weather station where the line of storms came through Bellingham, but it was not too impressive up here, slept right through it.  Aside from Lummi Island and a small strip in Sudden Valley there do not appear to be much in the way of power outages in the northern 2/3rds of Whatcom County.

No complaints here through, we had our big event in December.  Happy for those that like windstorms and were in the area hit by this one got to scratch that itch.  I am a bit jealous of the thunderstorm action down in the Marysville to Seattle area, and the snow that is falling down in Portland.

It seems like the area I live in has turned into a snow screw zone.  The cold air gets here, but the moisture either stays north in Ferndale and Lynden, or the very southern edge of the county.  We only plan to stay in this house another 4-5 years.  From there we will either be moving into the north county or to Montana.

The airmass will be a bit colder tonight. Probably won't be much if any moisture though.

I like my new iPhone!!! Downloaded altitude app while sitting up on mountain near my daughters place.

Found out I was at 583 feet and it was 37*

Daughter place 282 feet and 39*

My windstorm damage drive turned into a snow desire drive :)

At least I know now I can take a five minute drive and be in snow if I need during foothill events down here.

Not a lot of storm damage in this area
