November 2019 Weather Discussion for the PNW

Must be a decent downsloping component. That's usually the case when you are getting in on the strong winds.

Yeah it’s gotta be fairly deep to get things this gusty here. Larch has been up around 50 mph so it matches up pretty well.

My preferences can beat up your preferences’ dad.

Friday and Saturday look fairly showery per the 00Z ECMWF.

It also shows widespread low to mid 50s with southerly flow... not a good mountain snow producer which sucks.

All the cold... and no precip.

41 here.

Yea. We just got back from Victoria. Car thermometer said 21F at the south end of the lake. They are very wind sheltered down there.

0z 3km Nam shows a couple inches of snow here tomorrow. In all likelihood it’s overdone as usual. A few flakes in the air seems like a more likely outcome.

The southerly flow later this week is going to feel really warm after this cold, dry period.

Took advantage of the cold and dry weather today to check out Upper and Middle Lewis River falls in central Skamania county. Some pretty significant icing on the falls and the river itself.

Absolutely love that area. Didnt get to the upper falls on our first trip there though.

00Z ECMWF is not good a run for mountain snow... late week trough splits and then a ridge builds in again.   Friday and Saturday are the only days with any meaningful precip and its too warm for places like Snoqualmie Summit.

Maybe a more consolidated jet stream pattern developing by day 10.    Too far out to count on it happening... but it would be nice.    Always seems to be 7-10 days away

It's a really nice walk from the Quartz Creek bridge on road 90 down to Upper Falls. Great old growth forest and you pass another smaller falls called Taitnapum on the way.

Lower Falls is actually the only one we didn't see this time, since that area is currently closed for bathroom reconstruction.

Temp has been bouncing all over this evening. Was down to 31 by 5pm, then jumped all the way to 38 by 7pm, then fell off quickly again all the way down to 29 an hour ago, now it’s 32.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

It snowed less than two days after Thanksgiving. Not bad for an eight week forecast.

You’re welcome everybody!

Not snowing here.
