I once came across a small clearing in some dense woods in the Jasper National Park. Staring back at me from not much more than 10 feet away was a full-grown bull moose! I backed off, and waited a few minutes. When I returned, the moose was nowhere to be seen.

For now I'm going to chalk this up to 300h GFS doing 300h GFS things. But it does look like a cooler pattern with mountain snow is likely. I'd honestly rather have less blocking and a more progressive NW flow pattern that can build more snowpack. We're going to need to get as much as we can before winter ends on January 1.

The 12Z GFS completely shuts out California next week as well -- the low just hangs offshore and then dissipates. I think this run is totally out to lunch unfortunately.

Yea I know.  I’ve spent lots of time in the interior in my life.  Just never happened to see one.

I have been to many places moose are prevalent. Was hoping we would see one in Maine or New Hampshire a few weeks ago, but it did not happen. There are only about 40-60 moose in extreme NE Oregon.
