The potential is far from over.  Massive MJO wave now and it will be in 7 by months end.  This will keep the pattern amplified and full of potential.

Yes please. This will make it all worth it.

It's already worth it.  Historic cold wave in January.  Usually these are accompanied by snow, but it was just bad luck this time.

If this had moved west 200 more miles it would if been the coldest airmass to hit the region in maybe 75 years or more. It only needed a little more to spin up a low.

I’m surprised you’re already getting warm nosed, Andrew. How’s tomorrow looking for you?

Indeed!

I'm highly intrigued that we had an extremely cold air mass hit us last winter too.  That was just a glancing blow, but still impressive.

I remember Phil saying this will pass and be nothing because the cold will stay on Putins side of the pole due to the El Niño and , insert acronym here, +pdo and -nao don’t mesh.

so I guess we learned from this that anything and everything can happen no matter the teleconnections. Albeit, odds may be lower but are still there to happen.

Who knows, are we done this winter? What does next winter look like? No one knows except that we all know this summer will scorch. Thanks Phil.

It's also impressive that 850s are now shown to drop to -8 after the storm passes south of us.  That's quite a bit colder than progged a couple of days ago.

I'm not sure if anyone posted this today. I was working and every time I looked at the forum, there were a lot comments and didn't have time to go through them all.

The 12Z EPS really has a lot of members with high snow totals and check out the winds. I saw Mark Nelsen posted something on Facebook saying even the West Hills could see 60 mph winds late tonight and early morning. He said these could be damaging winds since 2009.

Tomorrow is going to be a very exciting day for everyone I think 🤗🌨❄️
