There was a feb 95 event that dropped 3 feet in 2 days on the canal.

I thought it was 95.  I was so pissed off with that one.  A half inch maybe in Woodinville where I was living.  These offshore wind events are terrible on the East Side.

I remember that one clearly, that was a very powerful one. I was living in port orchard and we had about 4 inches, i drove west out towards where i am now and about crapped when i saw 30 inches on the ground. It was insane and at that moment i knew i had to move out to there.

We come from the land of the ice and snow.

High-end (95th percentile) snowfall totals
approach 8 inches for portions of the Portland metro. All in all, the
setup with this system is very similar to the Jan 2017 surprise
Portland snowstorm, where decaying low pressure failed to advect
enough mild air to counter the lowering snow levels due to heavy
precip rates. That event led to 8 inches of snow at PDX, with over a
foot of snow in some portions of the metro area. With all this in
mind,

All this talk about snow should not mask the fact that there is still
a 40-50% chance elevations below 500 feet will not see any
accumulating snow. So don`t be surprised if wet snow mixes in from
time to time but the p-type never fully changes over. While
confidence in all the details of this system remain remarkably low
for something that begins to affect us in Periods 1-2, confidence is
high in THIS IMPORTANT DETAIL: If precipitation fully changes from
rain to snow in your location, assume precipitation will remain snow
for the remainder of this event. This could happen as early as this
afternoon, but is more likely tonight into Thursday. If rain fully
changes to snow, it means the necessary work has been done by latent
heat processes to cool the column enough to bring snow down to your
elevation. Therefore, with the lack of significant warm advection,
the column should remain cold enough for precipitation to continue as
snow until it tapers off.

If the Cold Pool in the Columbia Basin was a little deeper than I would be more confident we could get a snowstorm but it looks be to a marginal setup. If this was in the peak of winter like the last week of December we could probably get away with it and get a decent snowstorm.  Most of us should still see snowflakes in the air and possible accumulations though.

Up to 33 degrees, snow is holding on by a thread. Current depth is 4", probably not going to get much more today but I'm sure we will tonight and tommorow night.

Definitely the swamp aka the Puyallup Valley. The Tacoma area is historically the worst for a multitude of reasons (shadowing, warm nose, etc). The worst city for snow in Washington is Fife hands down.

How much snow has Fife had since Dec 2021?

This sure looks good west of I-5.  Some places will have a pretty major event and some of those places like Aberdeen don't always do so well.

You gotta ask @HuskyMaestro. Since Jan 2022, I think its zero or less an inch but he would know more. Ik in December 21 I had a friend in the Fife/Milton/Puyallup valley area measure 4 inches while parts of Tacoma got a foot in that event which insane since its less than 5-10 miles away.

EDIT: I posted that an literally 1 minute later their DP popped down to 21. Nine degree drop in 10 minutes.

All I can say for Seattle area people is this stuff always evens out.  Even the good old days had times Seattle got screwed while everywhere else didn't.  Then Seattle gets nailed and all is right again.

Seattle would never be expected to score in a marginal event like this...and in an El Niño year. So every flake that we get tonight is a free bonus. And if it busts...oh well.

The problem with El Nino snow events is they often involve a low off the coast.  We need stuff to track inland to score good or sometimes cold onshore flow.

Awesome line of clouds moving in I noticed on my drive back to work from lunch. And even though my truck says it’s 50 degrees it feels cold out right now.

I expect the West side on the Island and hills like Baker and Toe Jam are gonna get it.
