By every metric the last 6 have been far better than the 2000-01 to 2005-06 period which strongly goes against the narrative of an out of control warming climate. At this point it looks like the beginning of this century may have been rock bottom for us. Anyway, I will have the numbers in the thread. Unfortunately, California has been in increasingly bad drought conditions this past decade, and we need a reversal in this pattern very soon, or else the western 2/3 of the country except Washington is going to suffer from a devastating Dust Bowl-era like drought. So the last 6 winters, more like the past 10 have not been so good for much of the other parts of the West. 1

One of the rare times nobody was happy about an extreme weather event. Obviously I'll never forget that. The first part of Labor Day was so nice. It was pretty hot, my wife's family all met us at a park about 10 miles north of here, and the kids spent the day playing in the water. It was sunny and clear without the hint of a breeze. Then by mid-afternoon the sky turned very hazy, I drove back home with my brother in law and we stopped at an overlook on the back road home. On a clear day the view stretches from the Table Rock Wilderness about 15 miles east of us to Mt. Hood and even Mt. Adams, but by this point the visibility was down to probably about 1/2 mile from the smoke. The wind was howling and branches were breaking everywhere in the woods. By 9pm the power went out and the wind kept howling, it was very strange and eerie, especially with the low visibility and smell of smoke. The last text I got before the power went out was from a friend saying they were worried about us, we went to bed early, and the next thing I knew it was morning and the sheriff's deputy was pounding on the front door telling us to go. 2 1 Quote Snowfall Precip 2022-23: 95.0" 2022-23: 17.39" 2021-22: 52.6" 2021-22: 91.46" 2020-21: 12.0" 2020-21: 71.59" 2019-20: 23.5" 2019-20: 58.54" 2018-19: 63.5" 2018-19: 66.33" 2017-18: 30.3" 2017-18: 59.83" 2016-17: 49.2" 2016-17: 97.58" 2015-16: 11.75" 2015-16: 68.67" 2014-15: 3.5" 2013-14: 11.75" 2013-14: 62.30 2012-13: 16.75" 2012-13: 78.45 2011-12: 98.5" 2011-12: 92.67" It's always sunny at Winters Hill! Fog in anything over 45 degrees was about unheard of in the northwest. Unless you count a really thin mist as fog, which I think can happen in the mid Spring in parts of Washington. Basically opposite over here. Humidity increases steadily into August, then as nights grow longer you’ll start getting radiation fog and low clouds. Come Sep/Oct it can be quite thick and last much of the day in sheltered areas. Fall is our thick fog season too winter is a close second have seen it in spring but it’s a lot less common and very rarely in the summer (usually ground fog) Never have seen fog around here with temps warmer than lower 50s or so 1 1 Quote Summer grows while Winter goes

MR.SNOWMIZER
3 pleated woodpeckers in the woods behind the house. Wow they are huge! About the size of a large crow. I've never noticed them here and they make a beautiful call. 3 1 Quote We come from the land of the ice and snow.

MR.SNOWMIZER
We have this bird called a spotted towhee trying to get in the house. He's been flying into the window all day for 3 days now lol. It woke me up at 6 am again. He hit window yesterday so hard he got knocked out and was laying on ground. I picked him up and sat him on a bush and he was back at it 10 minutes later. Cascadia_Wx
Euro is further north with the rainfall days 8-10 than last nights run but still gets western OR into a wetter pattern Also shows Wednesday night getting down well into the 20s in the western lowlands could be the coldest March temps since 2019 1 Quote Summer grows while Winter goes
