Really, really lovely cumulonimbus action tonight! I just happened to have my drone in the car and got some solid shots of DT Seattle/Lake Washington/Mercer Island/Bellevue looking north from Skyway. Alas, the focal length of the lens doesn't do the vertical height justice and my WB was off rendering it into semi-gross HDR territory, but still... fun looking weather! It was quite windy- I was flying right at 390 ft and the drone was giving me all sorts of warnings about sustained winds/gusts.
A most incredible snow storm. At times the snowfall rates have been as heavy or slightly heavier than January 2017. Temp 27.5, Dewpoint: 27.1 with gusty east wind and very heavy snow continuing. I'm at 11 1/2" now! UNBELIEVABLE!!!! This pic does no justice at all.
NBM is quite an interesting product! Their weighting algorithm is moderately complex and dynamic, though does has some drawbacks as we saw yesterday. For those who don't know, NBM is an attempt by NOAA to create a super probabilistic forecast model that ingests output from all the models above and outputs forecast guidance for local offices that help them to gauge the relative odds of particular weather outcomes. The 'special sauce' is the post-processing, normalization and weighting that they d
Awe inspiring, uplifting graduation speech at the University of Minnesota. I'm sure our leftist members would be giving it many oohs and aahs.
Speaker 1:
“We sit on stolen land” said the speaker at the University of Minnesota graduation ceremony, asking everyone in the auditorium to acknowledge that “fact.”
Speaker 2:
“Racism is endemic, systemic in this country,” said another presenter. “We must make certain we are striving for equitable outcomes in the future.”
Speaker 3:
“It is not enough for us in the nursing program to heal the human sick and wounded. We must also strive to heal the planet,” said a third, referring to climate change.
At least the commencement ceremony was not cancelled by pro-Hamas encampments.
And now for the final exam:
1. If we stole the land from, say, the Sioux, there is every likelihood that they stole it from, say, the Ojibwe … who may have stolen it from someone else. Who may have stolen it from those who first crossed the land bridge from Russia to North America. Out of all the people that stole each other's land, who is the most racist and bigoted of them all?
2. Name a country as ethnically diverse as the United States that is not as systemically racist as the United States. Bonus point if you can guess the least systemically racist country in the world.
3. Liberals accuse conservatives of trying to erase history and get rid of the ugly facts about slavery and segregation in America. How is tearing down statues of confederate soldiers and other people leftists don't like not erasing our history?
Rainy pattern returns tomorrow. Farmers are burning the midnight oil trying to get the crops planted. Coming home last night after 11 pm, we saw tractor lights around the area.
