Haven’t had a chance to read through comments so not sure if someone posted this already but warmest start to January for Seattle. Records going back to 1890. However I think they are going off of SEA which really isn’t accurate.

Even though it doesn't look good for us right now. As a weather fanatic, I can appreciate the very cold anomalies the 00z EURO shows at day 10. An insane Arctic trough digs deep into the Midwest. That's brutally frigid Arctic air that's being shown.

Models look amazing! You guys should follow and post the CFS more often, instead of wishcasting like this. I’m sure anywhere from .05 to 750 inches of snow is likely in February, mostly due to the strong La Niña we are in.

My call is that we still get a better atmospheric setup late February to early March. It Will be a glancing blow, for marginal slop and many of us saying, “only if we had this pattern in Dec/Jan”. It will also be an excellent mountain snow period.

That’s all that matters to me. Snow in the city is nice until you have to drive in it.

That is a  nice thing about living in snow country.  They actually plow the roads, and the only real problem I have is my driveway, though I have snow tires and an all wheel drive car.   During a snowstorm the roads can get a bit snowy, but they are good at plowing and the roads never have snow on them for very long.  OTOH, when I lived in Western Washington, they did not plow the roads, they just put sand on them, which doesn't help a lot and just gets sand all over the place.

I currently have a LaCrosse 5:1 (Costco) version that I bought 3 years ago, that posts the data you see in my signature below. I am wondering if the Davis is the right move or if I should consider another brand? Thanks!

A Davis is going to be way better than anything you can buy at a box store. If you’re planning on moving to Spokane you could add the heater to your raingauge for SWE and to prevent it from icing up all winter.

Extreme mix in the ensembles.  Some go back to zonal flow and others show retrogression.  Overall better than 06Z but a long way from the 18Z yesterday.

FWIW, this upcoming pattern isn’t really niño like. The antecedent structure of the AAM budget is, but the intraseasonal/MJO forcing is more niña-like, which is actually aiding in opening the conduit to Arctic cold into North America under the regime of z-cell tightening and equatorward AAM propagation following the SSW (which is clearly one of the underlying triggers for the large unloading of cold across the NH over the next several weeks).

At least the latest Euro still looked fairly wet.
