Random and pretty scary thought...if the major earthquake that’s expected to occur in the next 30 yrs happens in a wet winter, is OHSU going to slide into the Willamette from liquefaction?

I do seriously feel like there’s an serious earthquake coming sometime soon wether it’s in WA or OR. Just seems like it’s been too silent for too long.

Yup the offseason brings out the angst. We are filling time until we start to throw out some analogs and such at the end of August and begin to have interesting weather here again.

It drizzled here this morning enough to wet the ground before the deep marine layer finally got knocked out of commission by a weak offshore push. Some beaches saw the sun for the first time in June.

July and August get more rain than December and January like every year.

We may not see another balls-to-the-wall month like Feb 2019 again for a long-a** time.

I did not say make up the annual deficit... I expect a drier than normal year.

 

I said a wetter than normal July or August or both.   That reduces the drought stress... those are the key months.

 

And of course that can happen and has happened numerous time even this decade.

 

• SEA was above normal in July in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016.
• SEA was above normal in August in 2013, 2014, 2015.

 

Would not surprise me to see both months end up wetter than normal in 2019.    That would be a wetter than normal summer in a dry year.
