Unfortunately, there's a growing 150 acre wildfire in Southern Oregon. Looks like their saying it was started by an illegal campfire. If only they would have listened to Smokey Bear.

Wasn’t there a 40000 acre fire near Hanford just the other day

There are plenty of fires burning in Central and Eastern WA as well. Been watching the HRRR smoke model and those look to really flare up over the next few days.

Even some smoke from a small fire in Olympia. Fire that frontal mentioned also burning up in southern OR.

I believe the fire is contained after yesterday and they were able to prevent 6 nearby homes from burning down. Good reminder to everyone that even though this July has had some rainfall it’s still pretty dry out there.

Probably should check the visible satellite first.

 

I know that North Bend will be "ground zero" for the mariner layer and a little c-zone rain early tomorrow morning.   Not too worried about smoke.

80+ highs in Tacoma over the last 5 years 2013(25) 2014(35) 2015(41) 2016(27) 2017(34) 2018(31). 80+ highs this year so far, 7. Probably will be number 8 today. Obviously still all of August and September but it’ll likely be the least 80+ days in the last 7 years here.

It likely assumes that fire is still raging right now.   Its not.   And it never really was.  

 

You have to use ground verification with that HRRR smoke model.   It knows there was a fire there and there is a strong marine push coming later today.    So it shows some smoke moving east.    Won't happen.

 

It also shows the fire raging tomorrow afternoon with a huge smoke plume.   After the marine push and some rain and higher dewpoints.

Yeah, workers just returned to the nuclear facility there after they had to evacuate for 2 days due to the wildfires.
