Sorry for the delay in my response. I got a new job a couple of weeks ago and have been doing 9 hour shifts. Today was my short day just to get up to 40 hours but I did do a couple of hours of overtime. I don't think I told everyone but back when my area had the big snowstorm in February, I was laid-off from work. I had a severance package that had the condition that I couldn't accept a job when I was receiving the severance. I got a job in April but it didn't work out for me so I left. I finally found a job I enjoy and the pay is better than the one I was laid-off from. 

Sorry for the personal biography...lol. It's been a long road to get back on my feet again. To your question, both. I did want to point out to everyone. Yes, we have had some nice weather lately but the people of Portland knows that when we have the Rose Festival, there is normally low pressure system that gives us cooler and wetter weather. We normally call it "The Rose Festival Low" which we didn't have this year. It's a week late. What normally happens after the low moves off is when we get nicer and warmer weather. Which normally the start of July is when summer really starts here in the PNW. 

Anyway, I hope everyone has a good evening and let's hope for a little active weather with this low that is coming in 🌧

Was an amazing day out on the water in Alaska today. Everyone else was disappointed because it was too stormy to get to the best spots for fishing but from a weather perspective I always wanted to experience a good Alaskan storm along the coast and got it over the last few days (in the summer to boot). Huge swells, crashing waves, and driving rain/wind. The captain was wondering why I was was so enthralled and excited:)

Went down a climate epoch rabbit hole this evening.  This would have been a fascinating time to be alive... and life on the planet was exploding then and eventually would lead to us posting on a weather forum right now.  

It would be so cool to be able to travel through time and see these different periods in Earth's history firsthand.

 

During the early-middle Eocene, forests covered most of the Earth including the poles. Tropical forests extended across much of modern Africa, South America, Central America, India, South-east Asia and China.  Paratropical forests grew over North America, Europe and Russia, with broad-leafed evergreen and broad-leafed deciduous forests at higher latitudes.^[88]

Polar forests were quite extensive. Fossils and even preserved remains of trees such as swamp cypress and dawn redwood from the Eocene have been found on Ellesmere Island in the Arctic. Even at that time, Ellesmere Island was only a few degrees in latitude further south than it is today. Fossils of subtropical and even tropical trees and plants from the Eocene also have been found in Greenland and Alaska. Tropical rainforests grew as far north as northern North America and Europe.^{[citation needed]}

Palm trees were growing as far north as Alaska and northern Europe during the early Eocene, although they became less abundant as the climate cooled.^[89] Dawn redwoods were far more extensive as well.^[90]

During the Eocene, plants and marine faunas became quite modern. Many modern bird orders first appeared in the Eocene. The Eocene oceans were warm and teeming with fish and other sea life.

Solid marine layer this morning with a low of 57 so far. Hoping we can score some decent rain the next couple days.

After that the GFS keeps things on the variable side while the Euro has been pretty set on putting us straight back into a hot pattern. Seems like it would be foolish to bet against the latter.

It does.   Boys are more challenging when they are under 10... but based on my experience (13 year old daughter) there is much less drama after that compared to girls.   Of course your results might vary!
