And 2.00". Rate has tapered off but still raining and radar says more heavy stuff will be here in another hour or so. May even hit the 3" mark for the first time this season. If so, will be an overperformance compared to what was forecast.

Monthly total is now 4.12" and counting.

It's called clown range for a reason.

Holy crap... have not been following the news..  Wow!    So its already wet outside and now its going to rain more on top of that wetness??   Crazy.   Be nice if they could throw in 'climate change fueled' somewhere in the headline.     Fun fact... heavy rain was unknown in the PNW prior to 1995.

Lol. As far as i can remember, in the 1970s when I was a kid, it rained all summer with occasional sunny but cold days, and fall-spring it was constantly snowing and extremely cold.

It never poured down rain though, we never had strong wind, and there was never record cold/snow because the jet stream wasn't as wavy back then, which causes more extremes now, even cold and wet extremes, but mostly hot and dry extremes.

On a serious note, the fact that stuff like this is national news headline worthy is insane. I mean it would be one thing if there were already bad floods, but it'll probably just be mild and moderate flooding, only local news worthy in my opinion.

Snoqualmie River at the falls now only gets to low end moderate.  But also shows the river is going to start rising fast right now and its not even really raining out here so I am very skeptical of that sharp rise happening this evening.

TWC is talking about the PNW Pineapple Express. One of the commentators said Seattle people always carry umbrellas on hand when going out because it’s always wet.

I assume that’s not quite accurate, but  .

We delineate tourists by divvying out those who use umbrellas 😁

Had a brief spell of heavy rain which brought be up to .27” but now it’s back to a few drops flying sideways in the wind! Looks like I’m on the extreme southern end of the rain shadow.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

My totals are

Hi/low: 63.5/53.8

Winds: 17.7mph

Total rain today 0.10"

It's the first in two days that I didn't have over an inch of rain. That's about to change dramatically. There is a flood advisory from now until the 7th. Tomorrow's drive into work could be white knuckle with a lot of standing water. Saturday was a drive from hell going to Beaverton. Hopefully it won't be that bad but who knows. I do have alternate ways to get to work.

Be safe if you have to drive. Remember, "turn around, don't drown"

Up to .51" for the day.  My wife and I were watching MNF, and she asked out of the blue "why is the sliding glass door fogged up?"

I pulled up the weather app, and the temp jumped about 10-12 degrees in about 20 minutes.  Took the dog out right after that, and it definitely feels very "tropical"

Currently 57

Got up to 60F just after sunset. I assume it will start raining at some point, but so far it's been a pretty dry day. GFS seemed to do a pretty good job accurately modeling the strength of the rain shadow while the other models underestimated its strength.

Only time I've used an umbrella out here was while golfing, and I think a couple of times watching my son play soccer during AR events.  I've had a heck of a time finding a raincoat that is worth a crap....my go to right now is an ancient oilcloth Lewis Creek hunting jacket, but I need to get it sent off to get re-treated, as it is starting to leak a bit.

I bought an REI waterproof jacket a few years ago when someone gave me a gift card. Has served me well enough, no leaks or tears yet.

The NWS is going for a pretty crazy flood forecast for the Skagit River in Mount Vernon. 6.5' above flood stage and in the top 10 highest recorded crests. It would be only behind 2021 and 2003 for floods this century. I just don't see it happening based on the precipitation forecast and the amount of snow in the North Cascades, but I guess it's possible.

Hour #17 here up in snoqualmie treating water. So far just 0.7” of rain but it’s coming down really hard now. So far our systems have been holding up well but they haven’t really been tested too hard today until now.

Rain turned it up a notch around 8 PM, 0.44” here since then.

We’re definitely getting a good soaking now here. The stormwater pond I’m treating is about 4’ from the overflow point and almost empty. It still may not be enough space tonight I’m afraid.

Not an expert here but it has often seemed that a very shallow or non existent snow pack has led to more severe flooding in many instances north of the border.  A deep snowpack actually absorbs the rain to some extent and slows its runoff into the streams.  October 2003 and November 2021 saw severe flooding with little snow runoff contributed.
