Last winter was pretty great-- one of the more impactful southerly windstorms I can recall in recent memory, a significant ice storm, and of course what I think may be one of the greatest PDX snowstorms of at least the 21st century.

Unlikely. Kona low will keep the region well below freezing likely for the foreseeable future. Heaps of potential with recurring reloads. May be our coldest January in decades. Plus heading into a Nina next winter.

Don't know if it was mentioned but the 00z GFS shows a couple snowstorms for the WV and a low of -2 in PDX later on in the run.

This could be a really great event for Portland. It might be ok for the Puget Sound as long as we get some snow with the arctic front to get impressive low temps.

Nothing worse than going into a cold spell with no snow and sub freez highs.

Yeah last winter was a joke. Not a single event over 1 inch.

And yet, somehow SEA pulled off over 8" of snow for the third winter in a row.

Last time that happened? 1970-73.

Down to 37.6 in Gladstone under some heavy (rain only) showers.  Probably won’t get there for this event but it feels great to walk outside and feel winter again with the potential for a new weather memory on the horizon.

36.8° just west (northwest?) of you in Oak Grove. I think we have a chance with how rapidly the temps are dropping.

Not to get ahead of ourselves, but if SEA gets 8"+ this winter, that will be the first time 4 winters in a row have done that since the 1950s.

Apparently fully snowing back home-- reminds me of a less potent but more timely April 2022

Chris seems to kill it in marginal situations. Way more than you'd expect for someone so close to the coast.

Yes, basically sea level give or take 20-50 ft. I thought for sure you'd change over by now with those waves of moisture coming down the strait. Probably will happen still soon though.
