They get NCFRs in the Midwest sometimes as well. It’s a sub-type of cold fronts. The dynamics that form the little cells in the band are really interesting (and complicated, it’s a form of shear instability) and are almost always embedded in a broader stratified rainband.

Most people are intelligent enough to understand the differences of climate and don’t need to keep bringing it up over and over again.

Madison, WI went from 70 degrees at 3pm yesterday to 11 at 7am this morning when their cold front moved through.

Doesn't make it any less interesting to track our cold front here though. Based on your attitude we shouldn't get excited when Seattle sees snow since Buffalo sees feet at a time sometimes.

Temp went from 48 to 38 with the cold front passage.  That’s a decent front for the PNW

This storm is going to be one of the more impressive ones I've seen in the mountains over the last couple years. At least 31" of new snow at Mt. Baker in the last 24 hours and 40" in the last 30 hours. Should probably pick up another 18-24" by morning.

The Washington State 24 hour record is supposedly 65" at Crystal Mountain on 2/24/94, but I find that hard to believe considering how little snow Crystal normally sees. But maybe the pattern was perfect. Paradise has an unofficial record of 70" in 24 hours from 11/26/55 which is a location I'd be more inclined to believe has the record, but that may just be in the record books as a result of not being able to clear off the snowboard one day.

I remember the crystal record.  It was on the news with pics. I thought it was crazy because that isn't a huge snow spot normally

Was it super low density snow??? Or maybe they added in the ski resort positive bias bump.

2-3" here as opposed to 10-12" on the GFS and the Mesos. EURO was super bullish on the Monday/Tuesday setup here, showed 4-6" and we ended up with 1/2".

Interestingly the ECMWF shows some lowland snow tomorrow night with a roaring south wind across the entire area.

Pretty cold air aloft though by that point. Probably 500-1000' sticking snow levels.

Pressure headed back up now. Bottomed out at 996.3. I picked a bad week to have a sinus infection…ugh. Brief downpour with the NCFR passage. 
 

Wind never really did much today. I know I’m in a sheltered location but 22 mph max gust is pretty low.
