December 2020 Weather Observations for the PNW

Was pouring rain in the middle of summer, and this dude is driving half the speed limit in the *passing lane*. I started tailgating him a bit, and he responds by break checking me. I try to pass him on the shoulder, but he blocks me intentionally..at this point we’re both doing ~ 80mph and drifting towards the concrete median..obviously testosterone had taken over. I was seeing red and, without thinking, basically pick maneuvered him, which sent him spiraling into highway traffic at a high rate of speed. My blood went cold as I saw his car get hit and spiral back into the concrete median and basically implode. The gravity of the situation hit me like a brick wall. Thought I had killed someone. I can’t really explain the feeling. But I can feel it as real today as I did then.

By some miracle, he was able to walk away. Thank god. I don’t know how. But I still break into a sweat thinking about it. Right now just typing about it. Basically just try to suppress the memory. My driving habits and value system changed completely after that, though. Really try it take it easy these days. 

So basically you tried to kill someone and yet are allowed to drive still lol

Ended at 32.7 last night just before midnight, so not a freeze.  31 now. Hoping for a nice sunrise.

Gonna be another beautiful day! 36 right now, was at 34 yesterday at this time. Car isn't nearly as frosted over as it was yesterday morning.

Might have to clean the golf clubs and get out on Saturday.

Made it down to 38 this morning before sunrise. Crazy that most guidance had widespread 20s this morning for the metro area just a few days ago.

Ended up with a very pretty sunrise too, with high clouds moving in at just the right time.

For any solar system geek like myself. Clear weather is a challenge this time of year but I’m hoping it sticks around just a little bit longer see later this month. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and peak closeness will be on Dec. 21.

Not my fault you live in a banana belt. Just got off a conference call with some people in Minnesota btw. They were bitching about how there was no snow cover yet. The one lady said she lives on a lake and it is frozen, but looks weird because there is no snow.

Yeah... hearing the same thing.    They like to have snow on the ground in the winter.   At least through January.     By February most people there are ready for spring... like most places.   

And the east wind is my favorite feature of winter here.

Looking at the 12z GFS, not many snow chances out there the next 17 days.
