45F with the sun down and the stars will be coming out soon. Looking forward to seeing Jupiter and Saturn so close together. Mars is super close too.

If only we could somehow painstakingly devise some kind of pill or invent a new, revolutionary vaccine where we all wake up living in Day 12-16 of GFS la-la-land. Wouldn't that be something? Winter weather is a guarantee. The question my friends isn't "Will it snow this Winter?" No. It's "How much snow will fall this Winter?" It'll be cold too. Really cold for part of the Fall and most of the Winter. Temperatures -22 to 30 degrees. In fact, from November 14th to February 20th the temperature never rises to freezing. No more split-flow, messy upper level patterns, inversions, warm atmospheric rivers/pineapples. Nope.

Blocking reigns supreme from ~140 to ~160 W always strong, always amplified, and it only pivots with various degrees of tilt. It pivots around like the most enjoyable Merry-Go-Round known in the history of mankind. An endless supply of bitter Siberian goodness floods over us. Failure to not take the vaccine means you will be living in Day 1-11 GFS hell. Nothing but uncertainties, questions, a lack of run-to-run consistency, and worst of all, the unknown.

A world where if it snows, it's nearly a miracle. A world of very sad unhappy people, and especially snowmen. It's a world where you are measuring snow in centimeters. No thank you. Is that a world you want to live in? Not me. Seriously. Just take the vaccine. You will awaken to blankets of snow, snow falling, and snowmen standing proudly as far as the eye can see. You won't ever need to 'dream of a White Christmas' ever again. In fact, the Turkey will even be white. C'MON!!!

I thought I was reading a Pornhub ad for a second.

But realistically, what are the odds of it verifying?

Realistically I am not seeing any sort of Arctic intrusion for the northwest until February if it happens at all this season. Not sure what the buzz is all about. We are far far away still.

You got anything to back up this statement of yours or just spewing randomness?

What do you base this on? And why is it not realistic to see arctic air before February?  It has happened many times before in La Nina years.  And of course like I say many times, the PNW can score without true arctic air.

I wouldn't be that optimistic, honestly. Cloudy split flow through March with slightly above average temperatures, then a rapid transition to an ugly, dreary, wet April-September. Still +0.5 departures each month due to warm overnights.

I don't get bummed out by crappy model runs beyond 6.5 days.....its all fake news.

I also don't get excited about awesome model runs beyond 6.5 days out.....its all fake news.

This philosophy has worked well for me since I moved up here.

Sounds like someone is in need of a 384 hour long peyote trip with Andrew as your spirit guide.

Was that before or after the alleged Hamster in the bum decable? or was it a mouse? I have no idea. What I do know is it has been a very long running Gere conspiracy though. Fun fact: This is the first Hamster ever referenced on the forum. I think. I'd have to do some checking on that. I know we had a Barfy the Chipmunk before from yours truly.

Payback for 2-25-19?

19.1” of snow at Eugene in February 2019. Pretty amazing. 12” with that storm around the 25th and then 6.5” the next night with a 2nd round of snow.
