Also a little known fact that the April 4, 1991 flood event led to the PNW winter of 1991-92, and to Pearl Jam recording the song "Black" in Tim's basement.

My basement was in Minnesota back then.

Of course the '64 flood is pretty much the benchmark event for most of OR and northern CA.

Wow! Eugene had almost 21" of rain in December 1964! That's absolutely bonkers! Short write-up from WRCC

Nice list. Some interesting geographical distribution of rainfall there too. Pretty rare to see PDX end up with the same amount of rain as The Dalles during such a wet month for both locations. 8-9" of rain for high desert towns like Bend and Lakeview is pretty mindboggling too.

The pineapple plume there on the 21st into the 23rd was probably among the most anomalous storm events on record on the West Coast. Massive, massive baroclinic band that spanned several states and ripped well inland. Even Kalispell, MT had a DJF daily record of 1.34" on the 22nd.

I was a late bloomer when it came to totaling a vehicle. My one and only accident happened a week before 9/11/01 at the age of 24!

Definitely a late bloomer....I was the poster child for bad male teenage drivers.  I got popped for 63 in a 35 (and I was still accelerating) 9 months after I got my license, and 3 months later my first car got totaled (t-boned, not my fault).  I got popped for 72 in a 55 when I was 18 and got rear ended 3 times within a 1 year period when I was 19 (all relatively minor). 20 was a banner year, got popped for eluding (had a huge head start but pulled over when he found me/caught up to me) and totaled another car (that one was my fault.)  Those 2 incidents chilled me out, and I went about 20 year before I got my last ticket (52 in a 35).

My 1/2 brother was much worse, he totaled at least 1 car a year for about the first 12 years of driving, about 1/2 his fault.  He also had several situations where not wearing a seat belt actually saved his life, so he refused to wear one.  He walked away from all but 1 (2 weeks in the hospital on that one).  The only way he could get insurance was on his dad's farm/business policy.

Probably not, but that's why we play the game. Remember, December 2008 models were abysmal until around the 4th when they flipped like a switch very abruptly. Things can change quickly.

I don't think it is realistic to expect anything great within 10 days at this point.  All indications point to mid December.

Yeah I’m not sure what’s wrong with this run thus far. Blocking has never been shown to move into a favorable position until mid month for a while now.

It's really not that far from being quite good. Just need a healthy offshore/Aleutian ridge merger

At best next week is going to deliver a chilly air mass and some lowish snow levels. No real potential until later. But anything is better than where the models were at about a week ago.

Everything I’ve seen has been pointing towards only brief shots of cool air with heights lowing in Alaska in the longer range.  We are going to be waiting for awhile for lowland cold and snow.

Really pulled back on the high latitude blocking. Without which, arctic air won’t make it south of the border at this time of year.

But I suspect models are struggling given how rapidly wave pool climatology is changing at this point in time.
