Summer 2019 was pretty cool here in Everett. July and August only had 6 highs of 80 or higher and July averaged 67/57.

Just checked... July 2019 averaged 74/54 out here and that was a little cooler than normal.    What really stood out that month was days with rain... 14 days with rain compared to a normal of 7 in July.    We never needed to water the lawn or garden that summer for the first time in 15 years here.

I definitely enjoy that aspect of our climate here. We seem to get plenty of sunshine in the Summer but temps are noticably cooler than even Seattle most days. Even the really hot days are usually only in the mid-upper 80's and we cool off at night pretty well.

And to be fair, I was gone almost that whole Summer in Hawaii and Europe, but I remember coming back and my roommates said they'd barely turned on the AC. This Summer it was on almost every day.

I think it was pretty close to summer 2020 temperature wise. Definitely a lot more active though. The thunderiest and rainiest summer since 2013.

I think Everett's just a cool location. It was close to average, a little above in most spots. Definitely felt cool after the 2013-18 period though.

At SLE in 2020 it was the 45th warmest June, 34th warmest July, 21st warmest August, and 13th warmest September. That is out of 129 years, so warmer than about 3/4 of the summers on record at SLE, but the June-August period was the coolest since 2012 at that location.

It still amazes me that October 2019 was the 3rd coldest at SLE behind 1919 and 1949. Add to that it was the 3rd driest November behind only 1936 and 1929, and well... It had something those other 4 years did not have. A dud winter that followed. :(

Jesse, is there a reason you consistently downvote my comments? If you think its funny, its not. Please stop.

Thanks in advance.

You seem to basically ask the same questions over and over again with most posts,  just in different ways. There are comments you've made that I like too. Although I thought you were kind of unnecessarily grilling Rob back there which is why I downvoted the most recent one.

We all have to endure it.  Once you make “the list” it’s pretty much standard issue.  Tantamount to a cop writing speeding tickets. You’re not doing anything wrong and I for one enjoy your enthusiasm.

I wasn't trying to be ignorant. I'm sorry that it came across that way. I was just having a hard time seeing what was so "amazing and possibly historic" about the run. But now that you explained it, I see your point.

That said, I still wouldn't call it "amazing and possibly historic." Sure, there is potential but it just doesn't look that spectacular to me. But thats just my opinion. 😀

It's okay we can agree to disagree. I should have not been so vague as well.

I apologize if some of my questions seem repetitive. I will work on trying not to do that so much.

As for unnecessarily grilling Rob, I wouldn't know who you are referring to because I don't know people's real names on here.

A little fun fact for the night and something to track!

If they fail to fall below the magic number before midnight, this would be only the second time (1994) in PDX’s history that they haven’t fallen below 43 degrees during the first four days of the year.

Rob is DJ Droppin. And you are just fine, honestly the responses from others that you have provoked in your repeated attempts to figure out what SSWs are all about have taught me some new stuff as well.

I'm continually amazed that we managed two top tier cold months in 2019.

I appreciate the kind response and thanks for clarifying who Rob is. I've apologized to him. I did not mean it to come across the way it did. 👍

We had a zesty dump of wet snow in late February that year.

So Judahs newest blog is out and he thinks this SSW is going to resemble the March 2018 one instead of the Feb 2019 one. He shows nothing but warmth and ridging through Feb for the west coast. Throw this winter in the trash

Maybe, but that seems to completely contradict the new Weeklies, GFS Ext. ENS....

This dovetails nicely with virtually every CFS monthly for the past 6 weeks.

2018 was our last totally ridiculous summer, but the past two were solidly warm.

If you look at the past four Septembers, OLM has averaged below their period of record average. February and March are the only two other months that can make that claim.

September used to be considered a pretty summery month on here. ;)
