. Sort of if you think 75% of the the last 20 years have been rainy Halloweens. This was the nicest one I remember in a long time. I think we had this same discussion because last year was not too bad either but the 3-4 before that were terrible with lots of wind and cold rain as we dragged the kids around soaked and crying.

Fascinating solution on the 0z GFS alright.  It appears the chance of cold blocking next week is pretty well over, but there has been some consistency on recent GFS runs (as well as the 12z ECMWF) showing the blocking pattern pinching off and restructuring in a favorable way as we approach day 10.

My monthly average ended up at 47.9 for October.  That is really cold for this area.  1984 and 2013 are the only other ones where I have recorded an October below 48.0, and 2013 was mainly due to inversions.

Almost no doubt I will reach ten freezing minimum temps for this season at an earlier date than any year I have kept records.  That goes back to 1978.  Amazingly almost all of them so far have been 30 or below.

SEA ended up with 5 mins of 35 or lower.  You might have to go back a long way to find a year that beats that.  To me this is really impressive when you consider the increased urbanization around the airport since the good old days.  I am truly impressed by this October.

Only 3 here, clearly Victorian kids prefer a classic rainy Halloween. Going to have to dump the left-over candy on my co-workers to get rid of it.
