Didn’t get as cold as we thought it might, but sometimes that’s the trade off for more moisture. 1 Quote Snowfall Precip 2022-23: 95.0" 2022-23: 17.39" 2021-22: 52.6" 2021-22: 91.46" 2020-21: 12.0" 2020-21: 71.59" 2019-20: 23.5" 2019-20: 58.54" 2018-19: 63.5" 2018-19: 66.33" 2017-18: 30.3" 2017-18: 59.83" 2016-17: 49.2" 2016-17: 97.58" 2015-16: 11.75" 2015-16: 68.67" 2014-15: 3.5" 2013-14: 11.75" 2013-14: 62.30 2012-13: 16.75" 2012-13: 78.45 2011-12: 98.5" 2011-12: 92.67" It's always sunny at Winters Hill! June absolutely crushed the 2009 all time record, while December barely edged out Nov 2010 and Dec 2008 by a hair. Wild year! And the major snow storm Portland-north in February and the ice storm in the Willamette Valley. In general the past few years have been crazy.
Doinko
If the Feb 2021 storm had shifted 10-20 miles south, I would've got 8-12 inches of snow. Instead I got a major sleet storm lol. Definitely better than pure freezing rain though, I'm lucky to have avoided the major outages. Horrible for the people that did lose power for a while though. Meatyorologist
00z GFS is incredible. This is legitimately one of the most intense La Niña regimes I have ever seen, even from a historical perspective. Spring 2011 and 1955 come to mind. Super insane stuff. In truth, the weather since the 2nd half of August last year has been great. Colder than normal way more often than not, plenty of precipitation, and an intense Arctic event around Christmastime to boot. Nice to finally tip the scale in the other direction. 5 Quote Weather stats for MBY Snowfall: -Total snowfall since joining: 50.25" -2018-19: 21" -2019-20: 2.5" -2020-21: 13" -2021-22: 8.75" -2022-23: 5.75" -2023-24*: 0.25" -Most recent snowfall: 0.25”; January 17th, 2024 -Largest snowfall (single storm): 8.5"; February 12-13, 2021 -Largest snow depth: 14"; 1:30am February 12th, 2019 Temperatures: -Warmest: 109F; June 28th, 2021 -Coldest: 13F; December 27th, 2021 -Phreeze Count 2023-24:
Brian_in_Leavenworth
Final snow totals for the winter for Leavenworth are in, assuming no more snow in May. We had 140.6". Snowiest winter since 1995/1996. Pretty impressive considering we only had 9.6 inches in February and nothing in March.
Meatyorologist
Like check this out.... Pattern deviates slightly (still colder than normal w/ onshore flow, mind you), then blocking resumes and a massive gyre of lower than normal heights parks itself right over the PNW and stays there. AK blocking forcing 500mb cyclogenesis right over the PNW, literally -ENSO concentrate. The exact mean that climo regresses to, lasting for days on end. This is the stuff you'll see 14 day averages show, except nearly no variation on a day-to-day timescale. Not even sure 2011 produced that. It's like since late Mar, the Bering Sea and mainland AK have played hot potato with high latitude blocking setups. Each one is cold for the PNW this time of year, just one more so than the other. 2 1 Quote Weather stats for MBY Snowfall: -Total snowfall since joining: 50.25" -2018-19: 21" -2019-20: 2.5" -2020-21: 13" -2021-22: 8.75" -2022-23: 5.75" -2023-24*: 0.25" -Most recent snowfall: 0.25”; January 17th, 2024 -Largest snowfall (single storm): 8.5"; February 12-13, 2021 -Largest snow depth: 14"; 1:30am February 12th, 2019 Temperatures: -Warmest: 109F; June 28th, 2021 -Coldest: 13F; December 27th, 2021 -Phreeze Count 2023-24:

Even though the arctic air didn't make it all the way here, I had around 6 inches of snow this winter which isn't bad, and kind of a white Christmas (started snowing on the night of the 25th). Let's hope this summer can continue the trend! 1 1
