June 2022 - Summer Begins

TT-SEA

Recommended Posts

The NOAA forecast discussion seems quite positive.  Cooler air coming faster than they expected and we could see temps drop pretty big in the afternoon/evening hours! They've also lowered the high temps slightly for some areas.  That cloud mass moving up the west coast is also ahead of schedule!  All aboard!

Even Tuesday will be one of those weirder summer days where clouds and showers increase throughout the day. Very well could have a noon high temperature. Or a midnight one if things don't cool off so quickly!

Yeah... Tuesday does look a bit unusual with cooling during the afternoon.

81/59 here today. Temperature is currently at 63F. It's remarkable how rare 60F+ lows are here. I usually only have a couple (if that) during the summer. Unclear whether tomorrow will be warmer or cooler than today. Maybe marine air will push in sooner, but if it doesn't then it could make it to the mid 80s.

00Z ECMWF did not stick to its guns.    Looks similar to the GFS... and pretty wet Sunday into Monday.    Referring to western WA and not Oregon of course.

KSEA had a low of 67F yesterday morning. Good god.

Meanwhile, it got down to 56F here in the Meadowbrook Valley. Currently 63F despite temps at the airport and much of the rest of the city remaining at 71F.

I see the station near my house got up to 95 yesterday.    North Bend also reached a high of 95.

Currently 68 up here and 58 in the valley... that must be the inversion @Meatyorologist mentioned.

There is pollen on our car parked in the driveway.    Is it normal to have pollen at this time of year?   Seems strange to me.

Just took a tour of the garden.  Explosive growth of our peas and potatoes.   Also the tomatoes look great now and are growing fast.    Peas will reach top of trellis in a couple days at this rate and I can't remember ever seeing such large potato plants (foreground of second pic).

Same for my son.

I found out recently that the nasal sprays helps a lot with the allergies Tim. You can get the OTC ones… though it has a really strong alcohol smell to it, it certainly helps. Try that!

I would agree with that. Nasal sprays definitely have helped my allergies in recent years and the occasional Zyrtec for an extra bad day.

Pretty impressive temps swings overnight here. 59F at 2:30 but a northeasterly breeze kicked up at that time and the temperature was 70F by 3:30. Dropped back down before sunrise as the wind dropped.

Interesting, I didn't see that kind of swing up here this time around.  Good thing it dropped down, it would suck to give the day at much of a headstart.

We are clouding up here in Bellingham, that said it is currently 78
